In rural Tanzania, dental health isn’t just about a nice smile. 😁

It impacts health, school attendance and ultimately employment. A lack of information and access to services can lead to self-extraction, chronic infection and even death.

In 2025 Ace Africa's award winning community drama team put on 12 performances for 9,975 people about dental health. Colourful, loud interactive shows communicate key messages, quickly, to huge audiences.

And to improve access to vital dental services, 10 government nurses and 40 volunteers were trained. This meant five dental health teams could be established to spread information in the community and help people to get urgent dental treatment.

The combination of increased awareness and new dental health teams helped 9,023 people access vital dental health and hygiene services.

And that put a lot of smiles, on a lot of faces.

Thousands of vulnerable children in Tanzania and Kenya experience serious abuse and are missing out on a life changing education.

In the Maasai communities of Northen Tanzania 41% of girls experience female ge***al mutilation (FGM) before they are 14, 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys experience sexual violence before they are 18 and boys tend to livestock and girls are sold into early marriage.

The Ace Africa football project protects the rights of thousands of these children. Their physical and mental health is transformed and academic results improve ⚽️

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day!

Ace Africa are proud to have supported women and girls over the past 20 years living in rural East Africa. Women are at the forefront of what we do, and we will continue to ensure they are empowered to live the lives they deserve.

One of our projects helps to improve women’s access to economic opportunities. Sadly a lack of access to resources dramatically limit a women’s opportunities to thrive in remote parts of Kenya and Tanzania. We provide women with the tools to become successful entrepreneurs, including small business training, offering new vocational skills and a saving and lending scheme. This ensures they have the tools to increase their economic independence and the income for their families needs.

International Day of the Girl 💫

This year, the theme for International Day of the Girl 2024 is ‘Girls’ Vision for the Future.’

In remote parts of East Africa, where Ace Africa have worked for the past 20 years, girls are particularly vulnerable to ongoing issues in their communities. These include forced marriages, female ge***al mutilation, early pregnancies and often cases of r**e.

Ace Africa is committed to supporting these girls living in remote parts of Kenya and Tanzania. Through our incredible teams and volunteers in the community we empower girls on all aspects of their development to enable the best possible chances of their futures.

Since 2003 Ace has helped 88,388 girls to learn about menstrual health and hygiene; 45,286 have received sanitary pads. This matters because it improves their health, means they attend school more regularly and safeguards their dignity and privacy.
