𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲. 🌍

📝The development of EACLGA’s 2026–2029 Corporate Strategy is progressing steadily. The consultative process to ensure our strategic pillars—ranging from climate resilience to Cross Border Cooperation, etc. —align with the evolving needs of our region.

At the close of January 2026, a high-level session was concluded with the 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮, chaired by Mr. Maurice Ogolla. It was joined by other stakeholders, including the 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀, a member of EACLGA, the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲, the S𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗔𝗖, and the 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 in charge of border management.

Most recently, on 17th February 2026, we consulted our partners at 𝗩𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮, as well as the 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮, on the sidelines of their Annual General Meeting, held in Bushenyi on 5th February 2026.

These discussions are vital in refining our focus on:
✅ Cross-Border Integration & Policy Harmonization
✅ Climate Resilience & Sustainable Development
✅ Financial Sustainability for Local Governments

As EACLGA's Secretary General Gertrude Rose Gamwera noted, this strategy isn't just a document; it’s a commitment to bringing governance closer to the people.

The East Africa County and Local Governments Association (EACLGA) is pleased to announce that we have begun developing our 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻, a roadmap that will define our impact across the region for the next few years.📢

🗓️ 𝗔 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀

✅ 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆: We held an online inception meeting to discuss the framework, thematic focus, and goals of the new plan.
✅ 𝗬𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆: We were honored to consult with 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗥𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝘆𝗲𝘇𝗶, the 𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗚𝗙 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 and Uganda’s Minister for Local Government. His guidance and insights will ensure that our strategy remains aligned with the real needs of local authorities.

📜𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻?

For EACLGA, this is more than just a document; it is our compass, which, building on the previous one, will do the following:

1. 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Ensuring all member states and partners are moving in the same direction.
2. 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀: Targeting our efforts where they can create the most sustainable change for local communities.
3. 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Setting clear benchmarks to measure our progress and success.
4. 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Adapting to the evolving landscape of regional governance and decentralization.

As we start the new year, we are committed to building a stronger, more integrated East Africa through empowered local authorities. 🌍✨
