This week, YouLead Africa and MS TCDC joined young leaders, policymakers and partners in Bujumbura, Burundi for the 5th High-Level Continental Dialogue on Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) and Women, Peace and Security (WPS).

One of the biggest highlights was co-hosting the African Youth Charter @20: From Promise to Prosperity side event alongside the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), Restless Development, and the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab.

The event marked the launch of the African Youth Charter @20 Appraisal, a youth-led process that will assess two decades of the Charter’s implementation and help shape recommendations for the Africa Governance Report 2027.

From engaging panel discussions and meaningful networking to the recording of a special Africa Unplugged edition, the week reinforced one message: young people must not only be included in conversations about Africa’s future—they must help lead them.
