Living Water Children Centre - Arusha, Tanzania

Living Water Children Centre - Arusha, Tanzania Living Water Children’s Centre (LWCC) was founded by the Kimaro family in 2003. Today, it is home to over 89 children from less fortunate backgrounds.

Living Children Centre is a registered NGO in Tanzania under the society of ordinance of 1974, under the reference no SO.NO. 12543. L.W.C.C has been in operation since 30th June 2004 and currently is a home of 82 underprivileged children in Tanzania. The Centre has welcomed children coming from different backgrounds affected as a result of HIV/Aids, Malaria, Handicapped, Sexual violence, Abused,

Neglected, Outcast and Abandoned, Danger homes and extreme poverty. The Centre has indeed supported all children by proving love, Care, security, medical and quality education. The Centre relies only from donation through volunteers and Friends. As of January 2012, the Centre provides a home to 82 children. The Centre is just a short walk up the hill from the Kimaro home and volunteer quarters. The Centre currently houses the very young children and recently arrived children of various ages. Most new school aged children have a transition period before moving to Yakini, as they require medical assessment, have little to no experience in English and often little school experience at all. The caretakers at the Centre are called Dadas (“sisters” in Kiswahili); they take care of the children, and do the cooking and laundry. All of the children are to speak English at the Centre and at the school.
