We are Faraja Orphanage Childrens Home. Faraja Orphanage Childrens Home is a non-profit organization outside Arusha (at Shangarai) in Tanzania and was established by Mr. Faraja Maliaki in 2008. Faraja Orphanage started with only 5 kids, but has grown to over 200 kids ages 3-15. Faraja runs strictly on donations and volunteer work and struggles with any consistent funding. We have many goals for 20
12 that YOU can help us reach! Our first goal we have set is to provide the 45% kids infected with HIV proper medical treatment and regular doctor visits. Currently, we have no power. We would love to save enough money to install solar panels so we can have light in the office, classrooms, and shelter. Lastly, we hope to create a chicken coup and cow supply so that we can become more self-sufficient and not have to rely so heavily on donations and sponsors. The livestock projects will also allow us to make our own food for the children and provide them with more than 1 meal a day. We can also make a continuous profit off of milk products and eggs. The orphanage provides pre-primary education (nursery or pre school) and has 4 other classes, baby-baby class, baby class, middle class, and biggie class (divided by age group). The teachers at Faraja Orphanage are extremely passionate about the children's education and future, but also rely on any donations for their own personal income. Without any proper school materials or technology, we are working hard to get sponsors for each child so they can enroll in Davis Prepratory School, a private school that will provide them with an incredible education in Arusha. We provide the children as best we can by giving them food, shelter, clothes and the most important thing: we are trying to provide to them with a proper education. By giving them a proper education they will get the opportunity to become independent and change their life situation and set high standards for themselves. Faraja Orphanage Children's Home wants to help all the children living in poverty and with illness, but we can't do it ourselves, so we need your help! Thank you for visiting our page, we are grateful for all of the support!
