The House of Children Foundation (HCF) is a non-profit NGO (non governemental organization) established in late 2016. We are located in Imbaseni village close to the main road of Moshi Arusha road, in Arusha, Tanzania. In Africa, the numbers of children in need of care are insurmountable. Unfortunately, Arusha is not exempt from this epidemic, and there are monumental numbers of orphaned and street children. The number of destitute children continues to rise due to the urbanization and industrialization of the region. In addition to the displacement of children due to industrial growth, many children are orphaned or forced to live on the streets due to parental death caused by HIV/AIDS. That, combined with the gender gap and the disproportionate losses for women in household income and the associated increases in their risk of poverty and single parenting if widowed or divorced leaves more females vulnerable to sexual exploitation, and teen pregnancies are still on the rise. The affected children are left without care and support and are at an increased risk for engaging in criminal activity, in addition to being more prone to suffer from emotional and physical disorders. The Social and Economic Development Program will benefit the orphaned and street children of the area by providing care, love, and support in the Children’s Home. Our goal is to provide a safe space where all children, regardless of gender, feel empowered to dream big. With your support, we can help back up those dreams by providing the toolkit
If you are interested in sponsoring a child for 1 month, 6 months, or 1 year please contact our Chief Grants & Development Officer, Chelsea C. MacDonald at [email protected].
