Flying Medical Service

Flying Medical Service Flying Medical Service is an NGO, which provides regular health care, and patient transport service. We also provide air transport for medical emergencies.

Flying Medical Service is a non-profit, strictly volunteer organization which provides regular preventive and curative health care as well as health education services. Based at Arusha airport in Tanzania since 1983. FMS provides medical transport for people throughout Tanzania regardless of religious affiliation, ethnic background or ability to pay immediately. We work in remote areas that are fa

The government of Tanzania has granted us important exemptions. This helps us to provide our services as affordably as possible for the average Tanzanian citizen

For reasons not made known to us, Flying Medical Service, the only Air Ambulance Service in Tanzania was grounded for the last 16 months by the ministry of health and TCAA.
During those 16 empty months, we had to totally unnecessarily refuse to fly 146 emergency flight requests, not treat more than 9,294 patients, not vaccinate more than 31,628 children, not examine 7,192 pregnant women, not treat 231 TB patients, and not treat 102 HIV patients.
We are happy, that we received a temporary clearance to fly again.
Today as this is being written, there are two emergency flights in progress. Since we resumed operations, we have been able to do Evac-Flights for a child bitten by a snake, a premature baby on oxygen for intensive care, and two stroke patients.
