Bright School and orphanage is based in Northern Arusha Tanzania. It was established to be the only hope for the orphans and most vulnerable Children in Maasai communities. Initially we started by visiting in Pastoralisties Community to teach about importance of sending kids to primary schools and HIV privation education. The contributions we offer is, clothes, health care, free education, and other
child basic needs to the kids whose mothers couldn’t provide those needs or whose parents were suffering from different diseases eg HIV/ADS or other related problems. Despite the fact that, primary education in Tanzania is free, still not all students get quality education because many public schools lack basic infrastructures. Privileged students get support from their parents to attend to private schools which provide school is quality education and left the underprivileged in the poor schools. In addition to that, retention of students to public schools is poor, especially for the case of girl’s students because of poor infrastructures and unsafe environment to them. Furthermore, the traditional practices of the pastoral communities do not favour girl’s education and therefore, the Bright school it is provide a safe place to the girl’s students to continue with their studies and eventually, attain their goals. As a Maasai girl at the age of just 10 you are at risk of being forced to marry a man of that may be up to 30 years older than you. You must go through the ritual of female circumcision (FGM) – an excruciating procedure, which is likely to lead to a lifetime of pain and medical problems, if you survive the shock and blood loss. You will be one of several wives and can expect to have at least 7 children, whom you will need to clothe, feed and if at all possible send to school, but with little or no education this will be a lifelong struggle and your daughters will go through the same experience as you.
