These are the numbers.

Behind them is something harder to count: children in one of Sudan's most conflict-affected regions who spent structured time learning to manage what they carry — and who spent that time in a classroom, with a teacher, engaged in learning.

EiC is proud to have delivered this as NRC - Norwegian Refugee Council Sudan's implementing partner on the ground in R1. The is designed for exactly this context, and Dellami County needed IT most.

Restoring Hope in South Kordofan: Teachers Trained to Help Displaced Children Heal and LearnIn conflict zones, the invisible scars of trauma often stand in the way of a child’s education. In Dallami county, South Kordofan, community-led Temporary Learning Spaces are providing a safe haven for displaced children. Now, a new initiative is ensuring these spaces also offer deep psychological healing.

With crucial support from the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), we are currently training local teachers on the Better Learning Programme (BLP). This specialized training provides educators with daily, actionable tools to help students cope with the severe stress and anxiety caused by ongoing conflict.

By learning how to regulate stress, these children can reclaim their focus, actively participate in classroom activities, and significantly improve their learning outcomes. This intervention is not just about immediate relief; it is a structural bridge designed to prepare children emotionally and academically for enrollment back into formal education.When we support teachers, we safeguard the future of an entire community.

Global education funding is heading in the wrong direction. The latest GEM Report Unesco from UNESCO shows it's set to fall more than predicted.

Some of the world's biggest donors, including the UK, US, Germany and France, cut aid in 2025. The impact will be felt hardest by the most vulnerable children. In countries like Sudan, where Education in Crisis works alongside international partners, the gap is already widening since 2023.
