🌱🌿Continue witnessing and engaging with indigenous communities from the grassroots level!

(ILIOT) proudly continues to strengthen indigenous knowledge in conservation, restoration, and documentation of herbal medicine and sacred plants through intergenerational, community-led approaches. With the generous support of our donors, the Simanjiro District Council, and Village Local Governments, we have reached over 45,000 people across five villages: Kimotorok, Loibor-siret, Narakauo, Emboreet, and Lobosoit A’.

Together, we have established five Indigenous Alternative Healthcare Systems Forums (IAHS), locally known as “ILANG’ENI,” bringing together women, youth, and elders to preserve, promote, and pass on traditional healing knowledge for future generations.

“Moving forward, Learning, and Growing Together”
🌱
As we step into a future that brings together the three essential pillars “knowledge”, “people”, and “ecology”, we embrace 2026, declared by the United Nations as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists.

For Indigenous Peoples, this declaration is a powerful call and a welcome opportunity to deepen learning around health, and well-being, while addressing one of the most critical challenges of our time: the sustainability of rangelands with people at the center. Rangelands are more than landscapes.

They are a sources of medicinal herbs and sacred plants grazing lands that sustain livestock and livelihoods, providers of food, fresh air, and habitats, living classrooms for knowledge transfer to younger generations (ORPUL). Spaces for cultural events, ceremonies, and identity. Foundations of an interconnected life cycle in balance, Rangelands define an “equilibrium” of life where nature, culture, and people coexist.

Stay with us as we continue to witness and support the expansion of this knowledge, reaching more communities and strengthening our shared future.

The Global Greengrants Fund has played an invaluable role in advancing sustainable practices in the agricultural sector, particularly through their generous contribution to our project focused on empowering women in sustainable animal feed practices. Their support has not only provided essential resources but also fostered collaboration and innovation among communities striving for ecological balance and food security.

Through their funding, we have been able to educate and train women in the art of creating and managing sustainable animal feed systems. This initiative recognizes the critical role women play in agriculture and animal husbandry, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to ensure that livestock receive optimal nutrition throughout the changing seasons. By focusing on sustainable practices, we are helping communities develop resilience against climate change and environmental degradation.

The support from the Global Greengrants Fund underscores the importance of inclusive, community-driven solutions to global challenges. Their commitment to environmental justice and equity not only empowers women but also enhances the overall health of livestock, leading to improved livelihoods for families dependent on farming.

We deeply appreciate the Global Greengrants Fund for their visionary investment in our project. Their partnership not only amplifies our efforts but also inspires other organizations to champion sustainability and gender equality in agriculture. Together, we are paving the way for a more sustainable and equitable future. Thank you for believing in our mission and for making a profound impact on the lives of women and the communities they serve.
