Happy Farmers’ Day, Tanzania! 🇹🇿

Agriculture is the backbone of Tanzania’s economy and the livelihood of millions of families. But beyond farming for survival, we believe communities should have the knowledge, skills and opportunities to make agriculture a pathway to prosperity.

At , we are equipping girls, young people and communities with practical skills to fully benefit from agriculture, from climate-smart farming and permaculture to entrepreneurship, food production and sustainable livelihoods.

We want our participants to see agriculture not just as farming, but as an opportunity to create income, build resilience, protect our environment and transform their communities.

And personally, I am falling in love with farming! ❤️ As Kellen Msseemmaa, CEO of , says: “The more I farm, the more I realise that agriculture is not just about growing food. It is about growing possibilities.”

Today, we celebrate the farmers who feed our families, sustain our communities and contribute to the future of our country.

Happy Farmers’ Day to every farmer , big and small. Your hands are growing Tanzania. 🇹🇿🌱

What was once washed away has taken root again.

Kellen Msseemmaa , we believe resilience grows from the ground up. Together with our partners and community, we’ve restored more than gardens we’ve cultivated hope, sustainability, and a greener future.

Kellen Msseemmaa, we are deeply grateful to Earth Allies Restoration Network for sending a dedicated team of permaculture professionals who walked alongside us in restoring our gardens after the devastating floods in March.

Their expertise guided us through site assessments, thoughtful garden redesign, water-harvesting swales, soil restoration, and regenerative planting strategies that will help our gardens become stronger and more resilient for years to come.

Thank you, Earth Allies Restoration Network, for believing in the power of permaculture and for helping us transform a season of loss into a future full of growth, resilience, and hope.

Kellen Msseemmaa and Earth Allies Restoration Network Together with students and community members, we planted more than 100 trees including shade trees, nitrogen-fixing trees, and fruit trees to restore biodiversity, enrich the soil, and secure the future of our gardens. We also planted vegetables that will nourish both students and learning.

What was once damaged by floods is now becoming a living classroom of resilience, sustainability, and hope.

We are excited to watch these gardens flourish in the months ahead, knowing that every tree planted today is an investment in tomorrow.

Together, we’re not just restoring gardens we’re cultivating a greener, stronger future.

After assessing the site, Kellen Msseemmaa and Earth Allies Restoration Network team together with Engaruka Juu community began restoring the heart of our permaculture system. We rebuilt swales to harvest and retain rainwater, protected and strengthened crops that survived the floods to bring life back to the gardens.

Every swale and every decision was made with one goal: creating a thriving ecosystem that supports both people and the environment.

Permaculture teaches us that healthy landscapes create healthy communities and that’s exactly what we’re growing together.

When the March floods destroyed our permaculture gardens, we knew rebuilding meant more than simply planting again it meant understanding the land first.

Last month, Kellen Msseemmaa together with Earth Allies Restoration Network began restoring these gardens through a comprehensive site evaluation and assessment. We studied how the floods had reshaped the landscape, identified what remained, and redesigned the space to work with nature, not against it.

In permaculture, every successful harvest begins with careful observation. By listening to the land before taking action, we’re creating gardens that are stronger, more resilient, and better prepared for the future.

This is how regeneration begins.
