Different Paths. One Purpose.
One of them wanted to be a doctor but could not stand the sight of blood. One left the banking sector. Another was told physics was not a good course. One never had it in mind to study physics at all. One thing was evident. It was not in their plan to end here.
These are not fictional characters. These are Medical Physicists. Africans. People who started from uncertainty, limitation, loss, and wrong turns, yet still found purpose in this profession.
Just like these people, a physics student somewhere is sitting in a lecture hall wondering if they made the right choice. Thinking how to navigate the uncertainties in front of them.
Part 10 of "Applications of Physics in Medicine" talks about medical physicist stories in full. No equations. No theory. Just the unfiltered truth of what it takes to find your way into this field and grow in it. Inspiring stories, compiled and made freely accessible for everyone.
These stories have the power to ignite the spark you need to create your pathway in medical physics. Perhaps you could become the next recipient of the IAEA Marie SkΕodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme, or earn a scholarship to study Medical Physics at ICTP in Trieste, Italy, just like some of the individuals featured in this book.
