🌜𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘆𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱😴

𝗫𝗶𝗮𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂 is in his second year of junior high school. He lives with his mother in a 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 in the city, where her 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 from food service must cover rent, meals, school needs, and everything in between. At night, they share the same set of bedding, which, after repeated usage, has 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘁.

When our social worker learned about the 3 sets of blankets and pillows donation coming our way, Xiao You’s family was the first to come to mind. For many of us, these are 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀. You place them when they get old. But for families already balancing caregiving, low income, and unexpected life challenges, these 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝘆.

As one parent in our program shared, “𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘕𝘛$400 𝘵𝘰 𝘕𝘛$500, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘕𝘛$1,000. 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘯.”

In 𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗻, poverty can be less visible, but that does not make it less real. Sometimes, support looks like a thick blanket, a proper pillow, and a child finally sleeping with a little more comfort.

Support 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 | 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 and help children like Xiao You grow with steadier care.

🏠𝐀 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰.
But what happens if a family is carrying too much to care for a child?
Faye has been supported through 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 | 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 for the past eight years. After early family changes, her mother suffered from 𝗖𝗩𝗜 following a scooter accident. With 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 at home and limited support within the family, Faye often had to grow up between childhood and shouldering responsibilities that were never meant for her alone.

Through Sprouting Dream, steady support helped lighten the pressure on her family. 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 and 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 helped cover daily needs, while 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 and 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 continued to show up, listen, and walk alongside them through difficult seasons.🫂✨

🌟Today, Faye is 18. 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, but it has been shaped by the years of care that stayed. For children growing up in homes under pressure, sponsorship can become the support that helps them keep going. 💪

💛Show up for a child like Faye.

For teens in the 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲, leaving care can bring a lot of uncertainty, especially given their already limited family support. That’s why the care at Agape is not just about today. It’s also about helping youth prepare for what comes next.

This year, 2 graduating seniors are stepping into their next chapters as they leave the nest of Agape.

🧁 𝗫𝗶𝗮𝗼 𝗝𝗶𝗲 found her direction through baking. From making cookies in children’s homes to enrolling in a culinary vocational school, she kept building her skills one step at a time. After a tough season of advanced training in her senior year, she earned 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗕 𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and opened more doors for her future. 🌟

📝 𝗟𝘆𝗻𝗻’s path led her to academics. With years of steady effort, curiosity, and support from teachers and caregivers, she was accepted into the 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 at 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 last Christmas. ⚙️ 💡

Two different paths. Same kind of care. 🩷

With the right support, youth leaving care don’t have to face adulthood empty-handed. They can step forward with skills, confidence, and a clearer sense of where they’re going. ✨ ✨

🌟We exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before, even if we don’t realize it. And some struggles can stay hidden without us realizing it. 🌟

At our recent 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 in Tainan, students explored the idea of the “inner child.” 🧒 They learned how childhood experiences, family dynamics, and belief systems can shape our self-view. With guided practice and group sharing, they practiced how to 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 and 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆. It’s something even adults can struggle with. 💪

📃 The second half of the workshop focused on the power of 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴. On how to speak well and 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 through narrative. Students learned how vivid self-experiencing can be helpful in everything from a job interview to everyday conversations.

For many students, this workshop helped them reflect on past experiences to better understand their own reactions, perspectives, and communication habits. And develop tools for healing and self-growth.

Through Youth Ignite, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀. We are also helping them 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲, and 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 without being trapped by the past. 💛

For Xiaoshan, it’s the 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 she has to figure out.

The 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 just to keep going.

🍪With support from a social worker, Xiaoshan joined 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, where she could learn a new skill, earn a living, and still be home for her children.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿?
Every evening, Shun’s grandmother is at the stove. She is the one Shuan comes home to. Wearing a back brace to get through the day, 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 — through grief, through debt, through a body that needs rest she cannot afford to take.

Shuan is 𝟭𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗹𝗱. His mother passed away from breast cancer, leaving behind 𝗡𝗧$𝟮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝘁. The family runs 𝗡𝗧$𝟭𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 every month, and his father works seasonal labor with long hours and is rarely home.
𝟯𝟲% of the families we support are 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝘁. Nearly half face repayment pressures they cannot outrun.

She was supposed to live a stress-free retirement, but instead, she is stepping up for her grandson every single day. And every evening, Shuan stands beside his grandmother in the kitchen and helps without being asked. Because 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

Your gift to MSM's 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 or 𝗘𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 program means one less burden for a family like Shuan's. One more month where the numbers don't have the last word.

“𝐇𝐢, 𝐈’𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝.”

That was the first thing Ms. Li said when she called.
But this story didn’t start there.

🌱Years ago, Ms. Li was the child on the other end of that circle. She grew up in a single-parent family. Her mother carried long workdays, endless bills, and two children to raise all on her back. But through 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 and the support of child sponsorship, they were able to keep going.

🏫Near the end of her high school, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗟𝗶 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴. Watching the tired silhouette of her mother day in and day out, she seriously considered stepping into work early to help carry the burden. But a social worker stepped in and helped her apply for a scholarship, stay in school, and keep her options open.

☎️These moments stayed with her.
So when she received her first paycheck, she decided to make the same call— but this time, from the other side.

“Because I’ve been helped before,” she said.
“I know what it means. 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻.”

💛𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀.
One act of care becomes another.
One life lifted becomes a life that lifts others.
In a circle of care that moves us all.

✨ Start the cycle.

𝐃𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟.
After graduating from high school, she had to step into the workforce to help support her family. But 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗴𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹. The fast-paced restaurant environment overwhelmed her, and there wasn’t much room to learn. She was deemed “too passive,” and soon, 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁. 😔

With the support of a 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲 social worker, Dawn found the courage to try again. Through courses on 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, and 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, she began to recognize her strength: her patience, her attentiveness, and the way she naturally cares for others.

🐱🐶Dawn now works in 𝗽𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲, in an environment that fits who she is. She enjoys her work, and for the first time, has the space to think about what’s next: 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 💵, 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 📚, and 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 she can look forward to. 🌌

⏱️ She waited 2 years to pick up the threads again.
At the Yunlin center’s first sewing class, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗔-𝗦𝗵𝘂 waited outside patiently, making sure she wouldn’t miss it.
“I’ve been waiting for this for two years,” she said with a shy smile.

🪡 In her 𝟲𝟬𝘀, 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗱𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 after losing her son, Ms. A-Shu works low-paying, flexible jobs just to get by. She had a passion for sewing, but life rarely gave her the chance to return to it.

✂️ Years ago, when 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 first offered sewing training in 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴, she tried to attend. But the 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, the 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, and the 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 of caring for her granddaughter made it impossible to maintain. She had to give it up, even though she didn’t want to.

🧵 But in 2025, we were finally able to launch a 𝟱𝟬+ 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Sewing Class in Yulin. Ms. A-Shu no longer had to choose between caregiving and learning. Back at the sewing machine, she is not just 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 but also 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹 that can support her future.

✨ In a room filled with the steady rhythm of stitching, seniors like her are learning side by side. With every stitch, they are piecing together stability and hope. 💛

🌅𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐡𝐲𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲
Every year before typhoon season, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻’s disaster relief team heads up the mountain early in the morning to restock the food reserve center in 𝗧𝗵𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲.

Why does it have to be so early?
⛰️𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗽, 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲.
Not only is the road challenging to drive on, but by afternoon, fog often rolls in, visibility drops, and sudden rain can also make the drive back much more dangerous. What looks like a routine delivery is really 𝗮 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. ⛈️

🌪️𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. Because when a storm hits, this same road is often the first to go. Landslides and rising streams can cut Thyakan off completely, turning the village into an island. That is why we partnered with the village four years ago to set up a food reserve center, stocked with enough essentials to 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝟱𝟬 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀. 🥫
