International Tchoukball Federation (FITB) The International Tchoukball Federation (FITB) is the world body for Tchoukball: www.fitb.org

25/07/2026

During the Closing Ceremony of the African Tchoukball Championships, FITB President Delane Lim addressed recent governance matters affecting the international tchoukball community.

In his remarks, the President spoke about the situation in Kenya, which unfortunately resulted in the country’s inability to participate in the Championships, and also addressed questions raised regarding the hosting of the Championships in Tunisia.

The President reaffirmed FITB’s commitment to neutrality, good governance, transparency, and the principle of putting athletes first. He emphasised that while domestic governance remains the responsibility of each National Federation and country, FITB will continue to uphold its Charter and work constructively with all stakeholders to safeguard the integrity and unity of our sport.

As our global community continues to grow, FITB remains committed to fostering collaboration, resolving challenges through dialogue, and ensuring that tchoukball continues to develop in the spirit of respect, fair play and solidarity.

For decades, International Tchoukball Federation (FITB)relied on a small team of just two or three trainers to travel across the world to conduct coaching and referee courses. Even our former Presidents often had to take on the role of trainer, travelling from one continent to another to support the development of our National Federations.

That model served our sport well during its formative years. However, as tchoukball continues to grow globally, relying on a handful of individuals to deliver education worldwide is neither scalable nor sustainable. The costs are significant, the reach is limited, and it is increasingly difficult to meet the growing demand for technical education.

Since June, we have taken an important step forward.

FITB now adopts a centrally developed curriculum with decentralised training delivery. Every Continental Federation now has its own team of Master Instructors, empowered to deliver FITB-certified coaching and referee courses while maintaining one global curriculum and one consistent standard.

This means more courses, lower costs, faster access to education, stronger regional expertise, and greater ownership by each continent—all without compromising the quality and integrity of FITB’s education framework.

We look forward to seeing every Continental Federation continue to build its own technical capacity, develop future leaders, and inspire the next generation of coaches, referees and athletes.

This is more than a change in how we deliver education. It is an investment in a stronger, more sustainable future for global tchoukball.

🚨 RULING UPDATE: The "Zero Shot" Evolution 🚨
After a comprehensive review and in-depth practical sessions, the FITB is proposing a new "Hot Zone" restriction for the zero shot. Here's what you need to know about the proposal:

🛑 The New "Hot Zone" Rule (Option A)
The Trigger: A restricted "Hot Zone" is identified directly in front of the frame.

The Foul: If the ball leaves the shooter's hand while inside this zone AND lands within the standard zero-degree court range, a violation is called.

The Penalty: This will be treated as a fault (turnover) with a brand-new referee hand signal—NOT an automatic point for the defence.

Check out this infographic to see the visual breakdown of the Hot Zone, the release point, and the critical landing map! ➡️

We're going to be updating you over the next few days with some major decisions coming out of the Technical Rules Review. FITB has recently concluded a comprehensive audit of our international coaching certification system, reviewing governance, certification processes and administrative practices over the past four years.

Following the audit and the successful implementation of the FITB Master Instructor Capability Development Course, the FITB Executive Committee has approved a modernised Coaching Certification Framework to strengthen governance, improve quality assurance and align our coach education system with international best practices.

These reforms are about building the future—not dwelling on the past. Together, we are creating a more transparent, consistent and professionally recognised pathway for coaches worldwide.

Check out the infographic to learn more about the changes.

National Federations will be receiving the full policy paper (approved by FITB EC) through the Continental Federations and via email sent by FITB Secretariat.
