🌕 Sparkle Toastmasters Meeting #530
Theme: Moon Festival—Family and Togetherness

Under the glow of the full moon, Sparkle Toastmasters Meeting #530 came alive with laughter, heartfelt stories, and the warm spirit of reunion. Our members celebrated the Moon Festival by sharing treasured memories of family gatherings, backyard moon-viewing, sizzling barbecues, sweet mooncakes, juicy pomelos, and the simple joy of being together.

🎨 Peter energized the evening with a creative Art Sharing activity, inviting everyone to sing 「千里共嬋娟」and express ideas, imagination of 荒島求生記。

🎤 MJ captivated us with leadership lessons drawn from his military experience. His story reminded us that powerful leadership is built not only on discipline and courage, but also on empathy, kindness, and care for others.

🎤 Freda took us on a fascinating journey through her three-day trip to Shanlinxi as part of her High Performance Leadership project. Her presentation highlighted thoughtful planning, strong teamwork, and impressive organizational skills.

Our evaluators, Ron and Jennie, provided insightful and encouraging feedback to help each speaker grow. Language Evaluator Joanna challenged us to make our words more vivid and memorable, reminding us of the powerful contrast:

“Family is not an important thing. It is everything.”

A heartfelt thank-you to all our speakers, evaluators, role takers, and members for making this evening so meaningful and joyful.

May the moonlight brighten every home, may every reunion create lasting memories, and may we continue to grow stronger together—one story, one speech, and one shared moment at a time. 💛

✨ Sparkle Toastmasters Club Meeting #528 — Taboos 禁忌 ✨
📅 August 20, 2026

What another meaningful and inspiring evening at Sparkle! 🌟

Our meeting theme was “Taboos 禁忌” — encouraging us to rethink old beliefs and ask ourselves: Which old-fashioned taboos should disappear as society changes?

The evening was filled with learning, reflection, leadership, and laughter.

🧠 Barbara opened our educational session with “Understanding and Preventing Dementia,” sharing not only how to recognize dementia and reduce its risks, but also an important message about Ikigai — finding meaning and purpose in life. Staying active, connected, needed, and engaged may be just as important as caring for our physical health.

🎤 Guava — “Subjective and Objective”
Guava challenged us to look beyond our own assumptions. What we believe may be subjective, while facts and evidence can lead us to a very different conclusion. Sometimes, simply changing our perspective changes the whole picture.

🎨 Peter — “From Blank Canvas to Masterpiece”
Peter compared Sparkle to a blank canvas. Every member brings a different color, talent, and personality. When we put them together through teamwork, learning, and mutual support, we can create our own Sparkle masterpiece.

🌿 Freda — “A Trip to Shanlinxi” (HPL)
Freda transformed her love for beautiful Shanlinxi into a real leadership project. From transportation and budgeting to backup plans and promotion, she showed us how a personal passion can become a shared journey through planning and teamwork.

Our evaluators Nuke, Jennie, and Penny offered thoughtful and practical feedback, reminding us about transitions, vocal variety, eye contact, visual aids, audience interaction, and the power of a strong call to action.

And our GE Ron brought the evening back to three important principles:

Teamwork • Preparation • Time Management

A great Toastmasters meeting is never created by one person. It happens because speakers prepare, evaluators listen carefully, role takers take responsibility, and members step in whenever help is needed.

💜 That is the spirit of Sparkle.

Every meeting gives us another opportunity to speak, listen, learn, laugh, support one another — and become a little better than we were before.

✨ Sparkle Toastmasters Club #527 Meeting Highlights ✨

📅 August 6, 2026 | Meeting Theme: Father’s Day

It was more than just another Toastmasters meeting—it was an evening filled with gratitude, reflection, learning, and heartfelt stories.

Our Father’s Day meeting theme invited everyone to reflect on two simple yet profound questions:
❤️ How has your father influenced your life?
❤️ What legacy would you like to pass on to the next generation?

Every role holder shared a personal reflection before taking the stage. As we listened to stories of fathers, families, perseverance, integrity, kindness, and unconditional love, the room was filled with warmth and emotion. It reminded us that the greatest legacy is not wealth, but the values we leave behind.

The evening continued with inspiring learning sessions:

🎨 Art Sharing – MJ Yeh
A fascinating journey through contemporary art of Basel reminded us that there is no single “correct” interpretation of art. Great art invites us to observe, think, and appreciate beauty from different perspectives.

💰 The Psychology of Money – Roger Lin
Roger shared practical financial wisdom, reminding us that true wealth is built through patience, discipline, long-term thinking, and the power of compound interest—not by showing off what we own.

🏔️ Journey to Northern Xinjiang – Jennie Tsen
Jennie took us on a breathtaking journey across Northern Xinjiang, where magnificent mountains, crystal-blue lakes, endless grasslands, and rich cultural diversity inspired many of us to add this destination to our travel bucket list.

🎤 Workshop – Barbara Chen
“Toastmasters Meeting Roles and Practical Life Skills”

The workshop explored how every meeting role develops practical leadership and communication skills that we can apply in our workplaces, families, and everyday lives.

👏 Special thanks to our General Evaluator, Penny Yeh, our Individual Evaluators, Language Evaluator, Timer, Ah-Counter, and every role holder for providing thoughtful, constructive feedback that helps each member continue to grow.

What impressed us most was the Spirit of Sparkle. Members stepped forward whenever needed, supported one another through every transition, and worked together seamlessly. That teamwork and willingness to serve are what make our club truly special.

As Toastmasters, we don’t just learn how to speak—we learn how to listen, encourage, lead, and inspire.

Thank you to every speaker, evaluator, role holder, and guest for making Meeting #527 such a meaningful and memorable evening.

🌟 20265/7/16 Sparkle Toastmasters #526 meeting – Where Art, Stories, and Growth Come Together

What an inspiring evening!

Tonight’s meeting reminded us that every speech tells a story, every evaluation inspires growth, and every member brings unique value to our club.

🎨 Art Sharing – Freda Chiang
Freda took us on a fascinating journey into the world of La Sagrada Família, revealing not only Gaudí’s breathtaking architecture but also the symbolism, history, and faith behind every detail. We learned that art becomes even more meaningful when we understand the stories it tells.

🧠 Prepared Speech 1 – Guava Yang
Guava challenged us to reflect on the balance between rationality and sensibility, reminding us that our decisions become wiser when we combine logical thinking with emotional understanding.

🎨 Prepared Speech 2 – Oscar Roy Lo
Oscar shared his artistic inspiration through the works of an Australian watercolor master. Rather than simply admiring beautiful paintings, he showed us how artists observe, learn, simplify, and gradually develop their own unique style. His message reminded us that true growth comes from continuous learning and finding our own artistic voice.

💪 Prepared Speech 3 – Ron Chen
“No Excuse – Invest in Your Health.”

Ron inspired us with a powerful reminder that our greatest lifelong investment is our health. Through daily exercise, swimming, and consistent habits, he encouraged everyone to take the first step today—because one workout can change your day, and consistent exercise can change your life.

🌟 General Evaluation – Harry Fong (Legacy Toastmasters)
Harry delivered an inspiring General Evaluation, reminding us that Sparkle’s greatest strength is its Unique Selling Proposition (USP)—our beautiful integration of art and communication. He encouraged us to treasure this unique identity because it makes Sparkle truly different.

He also reminded every speaker that Toastmasters isn’t about perfection; it’s about discovering meaningful stories and inspiring others. Every speech has the power to touch hearts when it carries purpose and authenticity.

❤️ A heartfelt thank you to all our members, guests, role players, evaluators, and especially our speakers for making tonight another memorable learning experience.

✨ Sparkle 12/4 Meeting Highlights｜Color Your December ✨🌈

What an unforgettable night at Sparkle Toastmasters!
Our theme “Color Your December” came alive through two amazing sessions that filled the room with energy, creativity, and inspiration.

🎤 Stage Time Workshop by Mike Honda
Mike brought a powerful, hands-on session that kept everyone engaged from start to finish.
Members practiced real speaking techniques, learned how to structure impromptu responses, and experienced the magic of “thinking on your feet.”
His energy, clarity, and warm encouragement helped every participant gain new confidence on stage.
Thank you, Mike — you truly lit up the room!

🎨 Watercolor Art Sharing by Oscar-Roy 羅宇成 老師
Oscar-Roy showed us the beauty of watercolor through a live demo — turning simple lines and washes into a peaceful winter scene within minutes.
Members were amazed watching his sketch come to life, stroke by stroke.
His calm presence, artistic insight, and gentle guidance inspired everyone to pick up a pencil and try sketching too.
We felt so lucky to experience artistry so close!

✨ A night of confidence + creativity
From strengthening our public speaking to exploring watercolor sketching,
tonight’s meeting reminded us how learning can be colorful, lively, and full of joy.
