Yipoeee !! - Great start for our Great Park!

Santa Monica City Council has just accepted $10.5 million in state and county funding for the future Great Park!

The nearly $500k Measure A grant helps move the project from planning toward implementation, while the $ten million Proposition 4 award recognizes the Great Park's potential to restore habitat, improve stormwater management, address extreme heat, expand access to nature, and create lasting environmental and public health benefits.

Perhaps most importantly, these awards help position Santa Monica for future investment and demonstrate that state and regional partners see the value and promise of this project. As these funds are put to work, they will help turn years of planning and community engagement into visible progress on the ground. That progress will help build public confidence that the community's vision for a Great Park is becoming a reality.

SB 1167 starts from a simple premise: legal e-bikes are bicycles, and California should protect their promise while drawing a clear line between e-bikes and high-speed electric motorcycles.

California Bicycle Coalition is proud to sponsor SB 1167 alongside PeopleForBikes, Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE), and Streets for All. Read more on the CalBike blog about how the Mineta report helped shape this evidence-based approach to e-bike safety and consumer clarity.

SB 381 was designed to slow that debate down enough to ground it in evidence. CalBike and others urged the legislature to go deep on research to make an informed decision on the best way forward for this promising technology.

UPDATE: GREAT NEWS -- WABA won their lawsuit and the 15th street bike lane in DC will not be removed!

The Trump Administration is now going after bike lanes everywhere. Secretary Duffy is asking Governors to help.
Sending letter to Governor's yesterday about a joint campaign to address congestion including:
• building new roadway capacity
• applying operational strategies and technologies to maximize existing roadway capacity.
• recovering roadway capacity from other purposes to support driving.

What you can do now:
- Join a ride/ rally Today the League of American Bicyclists is holding rallies and rides to protest removal of the 15th Street bike lane in DC (and now bike lanes everywhere using the hashtag .
