Taipei International Women's Club Represents Taiwan at the 2026 GFWC International Convention
Taiwan's Flag Proudly Flies Among 900 Women Leaders from Across the United States and Around the World
The Taipei International Women's Club (TIWC) proudly represented Taiwan at the 2026 General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) International Convention, held in Scottsdale, Arizona. Led by President Caroline Chou (2025–2027), the TIWC delegation joined approximately 900 participants from across the United States and five international countries to celebrate women's leadership, volunteerism, and global friendship.
The TIWC delegation included:
Caroline Chou – President, Taipei International Women's Club (2025–2027)
Lily Wen – Past President
Mayumi Hu – Past President
Jennifer Liu – Past President
Anne Yung – Past Treasurer
One of the most emotional highlights of the Opening Ceremony was the Parade of Flags, where the Republic of China (Taiwan) flag proudly entered the ballroom alongside flags from other participating countries. Seeing Taiwan represented on the international stage was a deeply moving moment for the delegation and reflected Taiwan's continued commitment to international friendship, volunteer service, and women's leadership.
The Opening Ceremony also honored the sacrifices of military personnel and those who served during times of war. A moving tribute featured The Six Triple Eight (6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion), recognizing the extraordinary courage and dedication of the all-Black Women's Army Corps unit during World War II. The ceremony also paid heartfelt tribute to veterans and the families of many GFWC members who have served their countries.
Another memorable experience occurred throughout the convention, when many GFWC members from across the United States approached the TIWC delegation and shared that they already knew about Taiwan because they regularly follow the Taipei International Women's Club's page. Their warm greetings demonstrated how social media has become a powerful bridge for building international friendships and increasing Taiwan's visibility within the global women's community.
President Caroline Chou said:
> "It is both an honor and a responsibility to represent Taiwan on the international stage. Watching our national flag proudly participate in the Parade of Flags was an unforgettable and emotional moment. We are deeply grateful for the friendships we have built through GFWC and are especially touched that so many members already know TIWC through our page. We will continue promoting friendship, service, and women's leadership while sharing Taiwan's stories with the world."
Founded in 1890, the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) is one of the world's oldest and largest international women's volunteer organizations. Through education, community service, health initiatives, environmental conservation, and leadership development, GFWC empowers women to create positive change in their communities and beyond.
Through its participation in the 2026 GFWC International Convention, the Taipei International Women's Club once again demonstrated Taiwan's active role in the international community, strengthening global friendships while showcasing the passion, professionalism, and leadership of Taiwanese women.
