Having worked all my life abroad, it is now time to find a way to give back to my native country. Taiwan has been referred to as the “Island of violists”, and I hope to continue to help the next generation blossom by creating an energizing, thought-provoking and fun week. Activities and Philosophy:
To be a great violist should mean to be a great musician. For that reason the workshop aims to ble
nd the best musical traditions from many cultures and generations. There will be a body of international faculty and students, interacting in daily masterclasses, presentations and chamber music coachings. It is my firm belief that educating through chamber music is ultimately the most illuminating experience. It is a life lesson for every aspect of our growth. Each day we will start with a short inspiration session to listen and meditate together. The later morning is devoted to private lessons; each student will receive two lessons over the course of the week, one lesson with a teacher of their choice and one that is assigned. Each afternoon is a public masterclass led by myself, followed by chamber music rehearsal and coaching. Then the evening spotlight will be given to other faculty members in the workshop. We end the workshop by celebrating with a student concert.
