Taiwan Democracy Watch Association (TDW) is a non-governmental organization proposing constitutional democracy, organized in 2008 during the TAIWAN Wild Strawberries Movement period, consisting of 80% scholars and 20% social movement workers. We aim to observe, record, analyze and supervise the development of Taiwan democracy by the power of knowled
ge and discourses, helping consolidate the democratic society in Taiwan and East Asia. After Taiwan Presidential Election 2016, even facing the new ruling party we are not only advocators of constitutional reform but also are steady promoters of transitional Justice. We propose legislating for the law of President Power Exercise Act and Legislators Power Exercise Act, advocating the reform of Congress. On the other hand, we also pay attention to the issue of transitional Justice, especially the tracing and prosecution of the perpetrators of Taiwan White Terror during the authoritarian era. Starting mid-July to end of August, we and some NGOs demand for the withdrawal of the Judicial-Yuan-president nomination because we found out the nominee HSIEH Wen-ting was an accomplice of authoritarian government by tracing the historical archives. We now hold a workshop to research the historical archives of Kaohsiung Incident (also named Formosa Incident), trying to find the perpetrators of the Incident, as a historical case of perpetrator-prosecuting transitional Justice.
