Today, MMM Chairman Moo Wen Tao and Treasurer Lee Cheng Hoe attended an insightful seminar co-organized by the University of Malaya (UM) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia (TECO) at the PAUM Club House. The discussion focused on a critical topic: "Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy and Malaysia’s Digital Transformation."

Following the session, we had a brief exchange with Representative Dr. Lien Yu-Ping. Upon learning that she assumed office just last week and had previously served as TECO Deputy Representative in Malaysia, we extended our warmest welcome:

"Welcome back!"

We wish her every success in her tenure. 🤝

This exchange reinforced a clear takeaway: Taiwan is a vital partner in Malaysia’s trade and economic landscape. We look forward to further collaboration and stronger ties between Malaysia and Taiwan!

提起台灣，你的印象是什麼？
現在的台灣是一個正在劇烈變遷的移民社會。隨著新住民及其子女已成為台灣不可忽視的第五大族群，這股力量如何推動了法律與社會的改變？

本次圖書館專題講座，特別邀請到國立台灣大學碩士生、同時長期投入新移民議題倡議的徐致遠。他將以泰國新二代的親身經歷，結合在台推動議題的實務觀察，帶領大家重新認識現在的台灣。

🎒✨Back-to-school joy in Kepong! Moderate Movement of Malaysia (MMM) visited SK Kepong Baru and gifted 20 brand-new backpacks to students from low-income families 📚💛
Beneficiaries were carefully selected by the school based on household needs, so support reaches the right students.

🗣️Jeremy Ang said: “Moderation isn’t just a slogan—we show it through action, bridging communities so no one is left behind.”
🗣️MMM President Moo Wen Tao added: “Our capacity may be small, but we’ll help as much as we can—and we hope this sparks more partners to step in and care.”

✅ What we did today:
• 🎒 Distributed 20 backpacks to support students as the new term begins
• 🤝 Put “protecting diversity, caring for the vulnerable” into real action
• 🏫 Highlighted resource gaps across different school streams and called for wider support
• 🌈 Strengthened understanding and unity by building bridges in a diverse society

🌟This is just the beginning—MMM will continue community initiatives within our capacity, planting seeds of moderation and harmony wherever we go.

2025 Sabah election ended on November 29. Despite being far from home, Malaysian students in Taiwan remained connected in this important moment, organizing a forum on November 21 at the College of Social Sciences, National Taiwan University, to discuss the key issues shaping the 2025 Sabah state election.

The event featured four speakers: Lau Li Seng from Kota Kinabalu, Kelvin Teo Zheng Yang from Tawau, Malaysian Youth Chief Coordinator Tan Shi Heng, and SEDAP Malaysia researcher Siau Hong Da.

During the Q&A session, students from both Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia focused on one major concern: whether the current federal government has genuinely upheld the spirit of MA63 and whether East Malaysia is being treated equitably in resource allocation. These discussions encouraged deeper reflection on Sabah’s historical and future role within the Malaysian federation.

We extend our appreciation to Juan Hsu(徐致遠), NTU master’s student in Political Science for his generous support, as well as to our secretary, Koh Xue Hao, for the calligraphic appreciation notes.


沙巴選舉已於 11 月 29 日完成投票。身在台灣的馬來西亞學生依然心繫家鄉，並於11月21日台灣大學社會科學院舉辦一場聚焦 2025 年沙巴選舉關鍵議題的座談。

本次活動邀請四位講者，包括來自亞庇的劉利晟、斗湖的張晉陽，以及大馬青年總召集人陳實恆與思達大馬研究員蕭宏達。

在問答環節中，無論來自沙巴或西馬的同學，最關注的焦點都圍繞在：當前聯邦政府是否真正落實 MA63 的精神，以及東馬在資源分配上是否獲得公平對待。這些討論促使與會者更深入思考沙巴在未來聯邦體制中的歷史定位，也加深了大家對議題的整體理解。

活動最後，我們特別感謝台灣大學政治研究所徐致遠的贊助，以及本組織秘書許學灝親自書寫的感恩貼。

On 28 November, MMM visited SJKC Jinjang Tengah 1 in Jinjang Tengah, delivering supplies mainly consisting of stationery to help ease the schooling burden of underprivileged students. The initiative was conceived by new MMM member and school alumnus, Jeremy Ang, who invited our organisation’s treasurer, Lee Cheng Hoe, to join him in this effort.

The visit coincided with the school’s Parents’ Day, and MMM representatives also had an in-depth discussion with Principal Tan on the operation of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the situation of underprivileged students, and directions for follow-up assistance, expressing hope for more opportunities to cooperate in future.

Vice-principal Lim accepted the supplies on behalf of the principal and the school.

Lee Cheng Hoe said, “Throughout our growth, the Chinese community and Chinese schools have helped us tremendously. Seeing our members wanting to give back to their alma mater, it is only natural for me to take an active part.”

Jeremy Ang added, “I know these supplies are just a drop in the bucket, but I will do everything I can to continuously secure sufficient resources for my alma mater. A safe and comfortable alma mater is my ideal.”


马来西亚中庸运动于11月28日走入增江中区华小一校，送上以文具为主的物资，为清寒学子减轻求学负担。甫入会的成员亦是该校校友的洪仕铭发想这个捐物资的动作，并邀请组织财政李政豪一同参与其事。

活动适逢学校家长日，MMM代表也与校长陈呙卫就家教协会运作、清寒学生处境及后续援助方向深入交流，希望有更多合作机会。

副校长林思妘则代表校方接受这批物资。李政豪表示：“我们成长过程中，华社、华校对我们帮助良多，看到组织成员要回报母校，自然会积极参与。”

洪仕铭则说：“我知道这些物资根本上杯水车薪，但我之后会尽我所能，持续性地为我的母校找到充分的资源。一个安全、舒适的母校，是我心中的理想。”

2025年沙巴州選已於11月15日正式登場！然而，我們這次不只想關心選戰走勢與誰勝誰負，而是更想看見沙巴最真實的一面，從過去到當代，究竟有哪些議題長期左右沙巴政壇？

因此，我們希望以2025年沙巴州選舉為切入點，帶大家梳理沙巴過去與當代具有爭議性的議題。這次，我們邀請了兩位沙巴旅台生、大馬青年，以及思達大馬，一同與大家分享並討論相關爭議話題，從中重新思考聯邦、地方與公民之間的關係。

When the Prime Minister controls five of the nine seats on the JAC and holds the power to advise on the choice of the Chief Justice, is “judicial independence” an institutional commitment or just a political slogan?


【Malaysia】

In 2025, Malaysia’s judiciary faced one of its most severe crises, defined by leadership gaps, alleged executive interference, and urgent calls for reform. The debate centered on three key issues: the speed and integrity of appointments under Article 122B of the Federal Constitution, the structure and politicization of the Judicial Appointments Commission Act 2009 (Act 695), and the roles of the Prime Minister and the Yang di Pertuan Agong (YDPA).

Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat warned that judicial independence depends on transparent, apolitical appointments. Her retirement in July, alongside Court of Appeal President Datuk Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim and the looming exit of nine Federal Court judges, deepened the leadership void. Case backlogs mounted, with some reportedly pushed to 2030.

Critics argued that the JAC had been too slow and that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s influence, embedded structurally in Act 695, undermined its independence, eroding public confidence in the judiciary.
