The Formosa Correspondents Club (“FCC”), established in 2021, is a registered non-government organization in Taiwan, currently established as an NPO preparatory committee registered with the Taipei City Government. The Formosa Correspondents Club is Taiwan's only association of foreign media workers and allied professionals that is registered as a Non-Profit Organization in Taiwan. FCC membership
is open to individuals who speak, write, or film about Taiwan for foreign language audiences in or outside Taiwan, and organizations whose primary business is to provide content about Taiwan for foreign language audiences in or outside Taiwan. Member benefits include access to FCC member-only events with Taiwan and global business and political leaders, exclusive vendor discounts, and access to professional development seminars. The FCC logo is inspired by the Yellow Tiger Flag (黃虎旗) of the Republic of Formosa (台灣民主國). In 1895 Japan defeated the Qing Empire in the First Sino-Japanese War, and the Qing Empire ceded Taiwan to Japan in the Treaty of Shimonoseki. The Republic of Formosa was an independent country that existed for five months on Taiwan during the period between the signing of the treaty and the arrival of the Japanese colonial occupation forces.
