Rotary Youth Exchange District 9620 Rotary Youth Exchange Australia provides an opportunity of a lifetime for Australian high school students to live & study abroad. What are the benefits?

Spend up to 12 months living and studying in a foreign country, learn about yourself while emerging in a different culture Rotary Youth Exchange builds peace one young person at a time. Students learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become global citizens. Exchanges for students ages 15-17 are sponsored by Rotary clubs in more than 100 countries. Exchange students unlock their true potential to:
Develop lifelong leadership skills
Learn a new language and culture
Build lasting friendships with young people from around the world
Become a global citizen

How long do exchanges last? Long-term exchanges last a full academic year, and students attend
local schools and live with multiple host families. What are the costs? Room and board are provided, as well as any school fees. Each program varies, but students are usually responsible for:
Round-trip airfare
Travel insurance
Travel documents (such as passports and visas)
Spending money and any additional travel or tours

Sun, smiles, and community spirit! ☀️🎶

Last Saturday, members from the Rotary Club of Mooloolaba—along with our wonderful inbound exchange student, Romy—braved the sunshine at the Mooloolaba foreshore to lend a hand at the 5th annual Nurture Festival!

It was a fantastic day bringing people together to enjoy live music, insightful speakers, and vibrant community stalls, all focused on supporting one another to thrive. Romy jumped right into the action, soaking up the local sunshine and experience!

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to make the day so special. Keep an eye out for the 2027 date—this is one event you definitely won't want to miss! 🏝️✨

From Germany to Queensland! 🇩🇪✈️🇦🇺

Last week, Rotary Club of Toohey had the absolute pleasure of welcoming our inbound exchange student, Lina, who shared her unforgettable Aussie adventures so far.

Her warm welcome to Australia started with a true trial by fire—discovering a spider in her bed on night one! 🕷️ Fortunately, it was all smooth sailing (and sunshine) from there. Lina has been diving headfirst into local life, from making great memories at school to giving back to our community by volunteering with the elderly and people living with disabilities.

Her personal highlight? Soaking up the island sunshine and crystal-clear waters at Lady Elliot Island! 🏝️☀️

To top off a fantastic night, Lina was presented with her very own Rotary shirt courtesy of her host family. Thank you for sharing your energy, heart, and great stories with us, Lina!

In 1997, Dody Priambodo traveled to Australia for a Rotary Youth Exchange. It didn’t just change his year—it shaped his entire life. 🌏✈️

Returning to Indonesia, Dody’s commitment to service only grew. He jumped into Rotaract, helped charter Indonesia’s very first Rotary e-club alongside fellow alumni, and now guides the next generation in Youth Exchange leadership roles.

His journey proves that Youth Exchange does more than create temporary global connections—it develops lifelong leaders deeply committed to community impact.

We are delighted to welcome Felipe to Australia as part of the District 9620 Rotary Youth Exchange short-term program.

Felipe joins us from Argentina, and the Rotary Club of Tennyson is honored to host him during his time here. Programs like these are at the heart of what Rotary does—fostering international friendship, cultural understanding, and lasting connections across borders.
