|Taiwan IP Expo Returns to Malaysia! 🇲🇾
Bringing Taiwan’s original IPs straight to the mall—and into the Southeast Asian market!

Taiwanese IP characters are taking Malaysia by storm! ✨
Sunway Pyramid Mall is buzzing on opening day. Families are lining up for high-fives with the Cat and , while the AR zone is an instant photo hit 📸 More than just a cute showcase, this is a major stage for Taiwan’s creative IPs to flex their global market potential.

Organized by TAICCA, the 2026 Taiwan IP Expo is officially live in Kuala Lumpur! 🔥

Teaming up with the Malaysia Creative Intellectual Property Association (MYCIP), we’re running a dual strategy: consumer expo + B2B matchmaking to drive both fan hype and serious business.

🤝 The Highlight: Taiwan × Malaysia Co-Branding
For the first time, we've launched the "Taiwan-Malaysia IP Crossover Exhibition," where 12 IPs from each country have teamed up to debut exclusive artworks. These cross-cultural collaborations are enabling Taiwanese IPs to connect deeply with local consumers.

🚀 The Vision: A Long-Term IP Ecosystem
Following last year’s successful deals, we’ve scaled up this year’s B2B matchmaking, bringing together over 100 industry leaders. From retail distribution to character licensing, TAICCA is building a sustainable, long-term ecosystem for Taiwanese IPs overseas.

With Malaysia as our launchpad, we are creating a proven business model for Southeast Asia, with upcoming stops in Thailand, Japan, and South Korea 🛍️

From high-fives in the exhibition hall to handshakes at the business tables, we’re looking past the temporary hype. This is the next big step for Taiwan’s IP industry in the regional market 🚀

Huge congratulations to Taiwan Travelogue for winning The International Booker Prize 2026!🏆✨

🎬✨ 37 years later, The Dull-Ice Flower returned to the big screen — and once again moved audiences across generations.

Presented in the Cannes Classics section, the screening brought together longtime fans and new international audiences to revisit one of Taiwan’s most beloved films.

During the pre-screening talk, curator Arthur Chu reflected that while Taiwanese cinema is often associated internationally with the Taiwanese New Cinema movement, filmmakers of the same era were also working within more traditional storytelling and commercial filmmaking traditions, creating works that spoke closely to audiences and the market.

The Dull-Ice Flower was one of them.

A major box office success upon its release in 1989, the film has continued to live on in Taiwan’s collective memory. Its characters, dialogue, and especially its iconic theme song remain deeply embedded in Taiwanese culture, still moving audiences the moment the melody begins.

The screening also offered a rare chance to revisit the early work of renowned protographer Mark LEE Ping-Bing, for whom The Dull-Ice Flower was only his 12th feature film. He has since shot more than 100 films and collaborated with celebrated directors including HOU Hsiao-hsien, Edward YANG, WONG Kar-wai, and Hirokazu Kore-eda.

Reflecting on the film 37 years later, Mark Lee shared his belief that every film has its own life:

“Even a film like The Dull-Ice Flower can return 37 years later. How can you not believe in the life of cinema?”

The evening ended with one final touching story.

Adapted from the novel by legendary Taiwanese writer Chao-Cheng CHUNG, the film returned to the spotlight as the International Astronomical Union announced that an asteroid between Jupiter and Mars had been named after CHUNG — on the anniversary of his passing.

Like cinema itself, some stories never truly disappear.
They continue to travel through time, waiting to be rediscovered. ✨

📍 Cannes 🇫🇷
Taiwan Immersive Showcase: Lighting Up the Night! 🌌✨

Co-hosted by TAICCA and Cannes Immersive, the Taiwan Immersive Showcase transformed a 450-square-meter, 5-wall projection space into a breathtaking sensory world. We brought together 5 pioneering creators and 6 groundbreaking XR projects, inviting a global audience to step directly into the future of immersive storytelling. 🎬

🚀 5 Creators × 6 Featured Works
• Moondream Reality | The Immersive Carnival of the Animals, To Hell with Me
• MISH | DRIFT IN TIME
• Hello World | Modern Times
• NAXS Studio | DARK ROOMS
• Serendipity Films | Sensory Concerto:The Seasons

This wasn’t the typical "sit-and-watch" screening. Inside the fully immersive 5-wall projection space, boundaries disappeared. Guests moved freely—some danced and interacted with the visuals, while others simply sat on the floor, completely lost in a stunning fusion of sight and sound.

The energy in the room was electric! The showcase attracted top-tier curators and industry heavyweights from around the world, including representatives from Atelier des Lumières, Lincoln Center, and Venice Immersive.

Running from 9 PM to 1 AM, the energy only grew as the night went on. Long after the screenings ended, creators, curators, and industry experts stayed late into the night, sparking passionate conversations and laying the groundwork for exciting future international collaborations.

As the world redefines what it means to "watch," Taiwan’s creators are leading the charge—using XR and spatial experiences to drive global conversations. This unforgettable night in Cannes proved once again that Taiwan's immersive industry is shining bright on the world stage. 🌍⚡
