水雲國小創建於1941年，位於東山區牛肉崎段，原為牛山油礦員工子女就讀學校，歷經油礦廢礦、財政困難與少子化的衝擊，終至於2002年廢校由吉貝耍國小代管。

2021年3月，荒野保護協會台南分會正式進駐認養水雲國小，校內有普通教室、地板教室、廚房等設備。綠樹成蔭的校園，依山傍水生態豐富。

未來期許在這樣一個環境裡，荒野保護協會可以與在地學校、社區、產業結合，打造一個生態環境教育的場域。
