This week’s theme, “Inner Growth,” created a room filled with reflection, inspiration, and deep connections. We kicked off the night with an engaging warm-up game that got everyone’s minds sharp and ready for stage time!

Our speakers took the stage and brilliantly put our workshop techniques into practice, inspiring us all with their dedication. Through their speeches, we were reminded that failure is simply a part of progress, not the final outcome. We also gained powerful insights from an experienced member on how Toastmasters helps us master emotional control and navigate anger with grace.

Finally, a huge, warm welcome to our lovely new member, Monica! We are so thrilled to have you join our BTTC family as we learn and grow together. 🌱

We also want to send a huge thank you to all of our guests. Your presence brought vibrant energy and fresh perspectives to our community!

This week’s theme, “Pet Peeves,” chosen by Mike, was filled with relatable laughs and lively connections. We explored everyday annoyances—from line-cutting and cultural differences to a guest’s pet peeve about loud talking in public—turning life's little frustrations into fun conversations.

Among the speeches, first speaker shared her inspiring two-wheeled adventures in "Taiwan Again: Cycling Round 3". Meanwhile, second speaker gave an honest, heartwarming glimpse into fatherhood in "Father and Daughter", reminding us of the sweet challenges of family life.

Final Thought:
Everyone is unique, and what bothers one person might not bother another. Mutual respect is key—let's embrace our differences and learn from each other! BTW, it is not the snake in the big black bag!

Have you ever stood in front of an audience, felt your heart racing, and suddenly forgot your entire speech? 😰 Or struggled to keep the room awake right after lunch?

Public speaking is a skill, not a secret. And last Monday, we unlocked the ultimate blueprint to stage mastery! 🔓✨

At our BTTC Special Workshop, the incredible Public Speaking Coach and DTM Mike Honda shared game-changing, practical tips you can apply to your very next presentation.

Here is a sneak peek of the golden rules we learned to conquer the stage:

𝟭. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵 🎯

• The Perfect Length: For a classic 5 to 7-minute speech, aim for 570–650 words. Any more, and you’ll find yourself rushing to beat the red timer! 🟥

• The Title Trap: Keep your topic short and intriguing. Grab their curiosity before you even open your mouth.

𝟮. 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 & 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 🚶‍♂️

• The Power Stance: Stand straight, feet shoulder-width apart, pointing straight ahead. Let your hands fall naturally beside your thighs. Look like a pro from second one!

• The 5-Second Rule: Before you say a single word, pause at the center of the stage for 5 seconds. Look around, make eye contact, breathe, and let the silence build anticipation.

𝟯. 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 & 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 🗣️

• The Mic Check: Always check your microphone setup before going on stage so you don't get distracted mid-speech.

• The 4 Magic Gestures: Master the body language toolkit to emphasize your points like a leader: The Placator, The Leveler, The Baton, and The Blame!

We brought a REAL 🐍 on stage... and it wasn't a metaphor!

📢 "How you practice in private is how you will be rewarded in public." 🌟

If you missed last Monday’s BTTC Special Workshop with the legendary Public Speaking Coach and DTM Mike Honda, you missed the most thrilling night of the year!

Here is what went down at one of our most electric sessions yet:

🎤 Real-Time Coaching & Demonstration
Instead of just talking about theories, we went straight into action! Our brave member stepped up to deliver a speech demonstration ("Why Am I Standing Here Again?"). Right on the spot, Mike gave his expert evaluation—and Claire immediately demonstrated the adjustments live! The transformation was incredible to watch.

🐍 The Ultimate Heart-Rate Test (Yes, a Real Snake!)
How do you prove that "just breathing" actually cures stage fright? You put a live snake around a volunteer on stage! 😱
To demonstrate how to conquer panic, Mike brought out a real snake. The volunteer had to use deep, conscious breathing to calm their nervous system and lower their heart rate. Talk about extreme public speaking practice!

Last week, we successfully celebrated our Officer Installation Ceremony, marking the beginning of a new Toastmasters year! 🎉 The ceremony was filled with laughter, appreciation, and unforgettable moments.

Our Immediate Past President, Pei, invited Evelyn, the former President of Fluency Toastmasters Club, to deliver an inspiring workshop on how to give more impactful speeches. Her practical tips and valuable insights encouraged us to become more confident and effective communicators.

Most importantly, the ceremony once again showcased the warmth, passion, and strong teamwork that define BTTC. It was wonderful to see everyone supporting one another and celebrating this meaningful milestone together.
