西賽德克亞族、南勢群，泰雅語”Lilang” 「里浪」意思是從【深山來的人】。
裡冷部落的祖先來自『南投縣 國姓鄉 白毛山』的 水源部落(為泰雅的賽德克亞族人)，霧社事件後，日本人為避免族人過度集中，便在目前部落所在地做好水利設施，設警官駐在所，泰雅族人越過 眉原山 遷到此處。
