In movement, we continue crossing the boundaries of language, culture, and the body itself.
Last night, Asia Base participated in Constant Crossings, presented by Mekong Cultural Hub at C-LAB in Taipei — a gathering and performance platform exploring how contemporary Asian artists continuously move between cities, identities, memories, and cultural experiences.
For this event, Asia Base was honored to collaborate with two long-term artistic partners — Damula and Lala Sue.
Damula’s work carries a unique energy that exists somewhere between land, memory, and the body. His performances are never simply presentations on stage, but rather a sensory language that grows from lived experience, opening spaces for audiences to reflect on existence, silence, and transformation.
Lala, meanwhile, brings an intensely personal physicality and emotional presence to the stage. Through subtle gestures and carefully held pauses, her performance creates echoes that travel beyond words and remain deeply within the space.
For Asia Base, these encounters are always important.
We believe the strength of Asian contemporary art does not only exist within major institutions or international markets, but also within the artists who continue to travel, exchange, collaborate, and create across different cities and cultural landscapes. Even in constantly changing environments and limited conditions, there are still artists choosing to reconnect people through stories, movement, and shared experiences.
“Crossings” is never only about geography.
It is also about crossing perspectives, identities, histories, and the invisible boundaries we often take for granted.
Thank you to all the participating artists, audiences, and everyone who continues to believe in artistic exchange and connection.
Asia Base will continue moving forward — starting from our own city, carrying stories and creators into new encounters, and building connections across Asia that are not simply moments of passing through, but traces of genuine presence that remain.
