🇹🇹 Happy 64th Independence, Trinidad & Tobago! 🇹🇹
Today we honour the courage, resilience, and determination that shaped our nation in 1962 — and the citizens who continue to build it every day.

At Tobago CivilNET, we celebrate the spirit of active citizenship, accountability, and community leadership that keeps our democracy strong. Independence is not only a historic milestone; it is a daily responsibility we all share.

Here’s to 64 years of nationhood, and to a future where informed, engaged Tobagonians help shape a better, more transparent, more empowered Trinidad & Tobago.

Chairman Elect, Dr. Ryan Allard emphasized the importance of active citizenship in Tobago’s development. He stated:
“If Tobago is to improve, it will take citizens who are prepared to do more than complain. It will take people willing to help inform the public, strengthen accountability, and serve the island through serious civic work. Tobago CivilNET exists for that purpose, and as we begin this new chapter, we invite others who share that commitment to join us at www.TobagoCivilNET.org/join.”

The AGM also highlighted CivilNET’s ongoing initiatives, including civic education programmes, public interest research, and community engagement efforts aimed at empowering Tobagonians to participate meaningfully in the island’s governance and development. You are cordially invited to a lecture promoted by the Repair Campaign, featuring Dr. Rita Pemberton, at the Scarborough Library on Thursday, April 30, 2026

The Repair Campaign, led by Dr. Lovell Francis in Trinidad and Tobago, is the brain-child of Mr. Dennis O’Brien, Digicel’s founder and chairman, guided by the 2014 CARICOM 10 Point Plan for Reparatory Justice. It seeks to amplify Caribbean voices calling for reparations and get former colonial powers to commit to a long-term reparatory fund for Caribbean countries affected by slavery and colonisation.

The campaign aligns with one of the outcomes of the Tobago Sankofa Conference that Tobago CivilNET and the Council of Elders is engaged in working on at the present time. The Tobago Sankofa Conference, scheduled to begin in July, 2026, is a Self-Repair project, whereas the Repair Campaign is a Reparatory Justice project.

We look forward to your full participation in these two important events.

There will be a Q&A session to which you can bring all your questions on reparations.
Kindly circulate this invitation widely.
Complimentary refreshments will be served at the lecture.

SOCIAL MEDIA RELEASE

Re: Tobago CivilNET Condemns Vandalism of WASA Facilities, Calls for Citizen Vigilance

Tobago CivilNET denounces the recent destruction of vital WASA infrastructure at:

● Arnos Vale Well #4
● Bacolet Well #3
● Bloody Bay Well #1
● Claude Noel Highway Well

These acts of vandalism threaten Tobago’s access to clean water and undermine the health, safety, and stability of our communities.
CivilNET urges law-abiding citizens and residents to say something if you see or know something. Silence only empowers the selfish and ignorant violators, who obviously will not think twice about violating the whole of us.

We call on law enforcement, WASA, and community leaders to act swiftly and decisively, proactively securing such sensitive life-sustaining facilities must be a matter of priority.
