Building stronger connections today for a more impactful tomorrow!

Melissa Senhouse-Cox, Incoming Assistant Governor, recently met with the Incoming Presidents and Secretaries of the East Cluster (Rotary Clubs of Piarco, Sangre Grande and St Augustine) for an informal networking and relationship-building session. The objective was simple: strengthen camaraderie, foster collaboration, identify each other's strengths, and explore opportunities for meaningful cluster projects in the year ahead.

The session provided an excellent opportunity for leaders to get to know one another beyond their club roles, share experiences, and begin identifying synergies that can help us better serve our communities together.

Debbie Battersby, Incoming President, Rotary Club of St Augustine, expressed her appreciation for the initiative and was delighted to share insights from her extensive background in Human Resources and Finance. Her knowledge and experience added tremendous value to the discussions and highlighted the wealth of expertise that exists within our Rotary family.

When Rotary leaders connect, collaborate, and learn from each other, great things happen. Here's to a year of partnership, fellowship, and service

Members of the Rotary Club of St. Augustine, together with Officium Training Limited and Nicholas Khan, recently met with members of the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service including the Commissioner of Prisons, Deputy Commissioner of Prisons and the Superintendent assigned to the Youth Transformation and Rehabilitation Centre (YTRC) to discuss ongoing and future collaborative initiatives.

The meeting focused on strengthening partnerships, exploring innovative approaches to rehabilitation and reintegration, and identifying opportunities to create meaningful, long-term outcomes for the young people entrusted to our care.

We are grateful for the openness and engagement demonstrated during these discussions. Together, we continue to work towards projects that restore hope, build resilience, and create pathways for success.

Congratulations to Mr. Raj Jadoo

The Rotary Club of St Augustine extends heartfelt congratulations to Raj Jadoo, Past President, Rotary Club of St Augustine on being honoured by the S.D.M.S. Baal Vikaas Committee at the Baal Vikaas Festival 2026.

This special recognition celebrates Past President Raj’s lifelong commitment to service, education, community development, humanitarian work, and the eradication of polio. His leadership and generosity have made a lasting impact across Rotary, the SDMS, education, faith-based service, and community upliftment throughout Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean.

Over the years, Past President Raj has served with distinction in numerous roles, including Senior Executive Member and Vice President of the SDMS, main fundraiser, school manager, building committee chairman, treasurer, business association president, and director of several community and humanitarian organisations. His dedication to schools, temples, community institutions, and charitable causes reflects a life guided by compassion, service, and purpose.

The Baal Vikaas Festival 2026 was a remarkable celebration, with approximately 5,000 persons attending over two days. Meals were provided for all, including breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks, and the event was broadcast live on TV Jaagriti from 8:45 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

We proudly celebrate Past President Raj Jadoo on this meaningful honour and thank him for his extraordinary example of Service Above Self, leadership, and lasting impact.

Soraya Warner-Gustave, Rotary District 7030 Governor Visits YTRC Project as Rotary Club of St. Augustine Champions Youth Rehabilitation: From Incarceration to Inspiration

The Rotary Club of St. Augustine is supporting youth rehabilitation and reintegration through the refurbishment of the Prosperity Dormitory at the Youth Transformation and Rehabilitation Centre (YTRC).

Formerly used as a Pre-Release Room, the space once helped young men nearing the end of their rehabilitation programme prepare for life beyond the institution. Closed after 2020 and later used for storage, the room is now being restored to provide a dedicated environment for reflection, planning, confidence-building, and preparation for return to family, community, education, and productive life.

Valued at approximately TT$135,000, the project forms part of the Club’s wider commitment to vulnerable youth, personal development, and community reintegration. It is also supported by the inspiring story of Nicholas Khan, a former inmate whose journey from incarceration to scholarship, entrepreneurship, and youth mentorship reflects the transformation the project seeks to encourage. His story is featured in the video “From Incarceration to Inspiration”: https://youtu.be/XXWdODJFnKY

The site was recently visited by Soraya Warner-Gustave, District Governor of Rotary District 7030, who toured the facility and recognised the value of collaborative, community-driven projects that support youth rehabilitation and reintegration.

“This project is about more than refurbishing a room. It is about restoring a space of possibility,” said Melissa Senhouse-Cox, President of the Rotary Club of St. Augustine.

The project has received support from Dean’s Hardware, General Electrical and Plumbing Supplies Ltd, Rite Buy Hardware Ltd., Moosai Hardware Limited, Community Conflict Resolution Centre (TTPS), Ferguson Premium Electrical Services, Color Shop 2004 Limited, and members of the Rotary Club of St. Augustine.
