The man who killed his Miss Switzerland finalist wife before liquidising her remains in a blender was described as the 'ideal husband' by his lawyer during his murder trial.

Marc Rieben, 43, is said to have used a jigsaw tool, a knife and garden shears on Kristina Joksimovic's body before 'pureeing' her remains in the kitchen appliance.

The father of two, a five and six-year-old, is charged with murdering his then 38-year-old wife and desecration of the dead. He faces life in prison if found guilty.

Rieben - dressed in a dark suit and wearing a white shirt - was followed into the courtroom by two of his three-person legal team, Christina Von Wartburg and Sina Selman, this morning.

But eyebrows were left raised during the chilling hearing as Rieben painted the picture of being a caring and thoughtful husband as he described how he 'would get up with the children in the middle of the night' so Kristina could rest.

His lawyer described him as the 'ideal husband' and Rieben said he was 'just trying to help and look after his wife'.

The trial opened properly with Rieben addressing the court and making a statement, blinking back tears as he claimed he 'loved' Kristina and her death was 'an accident', although he admitted grabbing her by the throat.

He said: 'I have caused my family immeasurable suffering. Why? Why did I fail? Why couldn't I prevent it? Why couldn't I stop her from dying at my hands? I loved my wife with all my heart and believed in a future together.

'It haunts me day and night. What I did is absolutely unforgivable, and I take full responsibility. I deeply regret it, and I apologise.'

A post-mortem examination has determined that Golconda mother Stacy Samaroo, whose body was discovered floating in a bay in Tobago with a rope around her neck, died by drowning, with strangulation identified as a contributing factor.

These were the findings as revealed by a senior police officer following the autopsy conducted on Tuesday.

The body was identified by Samaroo’s father and sister, who travelled to Tobago to witness the post-mortem examination.

Samaroo, 36, was found floating in Blenheim Bay, near the new Mount St George/ Goodwood electoral district office on Windward Road on March 3.

KELLY ANN LEMESSY of Rio Claro was tragically shot and killed in the presence of her children.

Kelly and her family were heading to Sangre Grande a short while ago when gunman shot her in the head right in front of her home.

At the time of the shooting, her baby was on her lap, and a 7-year-old child was also inside the vehicle.
Kelly was seated in the vehicle. The gunman opened fire as the vehicle was parked in front of the home, striking Kelly in the head.

Crystal Williams, 22, just wanted to go home.
