IGDS WGWN Children Water Camps Programme

IGDS WGWN Children Water Camps Programme Water is a vital element in all aspects of life on Earth. There is a crucial link between our water resources and the production of potable water.

The IGDS-WGWN Children Water Camps Programme is organised and conducted by the Institute for Gender and Development Studies/Women Gender Water Network, The University of the West Indies. With that said more is needed to drive home the point that water is a limited resource that must be carefully managed. The Children Water Camps Programme recognises that children are known to actively influence th

e opinions of their parents and pass on relevent information to members of their households. The first step to moving towards sustainable and efficient water management is educating and positively influencing primary and early secondary school age children, focusing their attention and channeling their energues on water and water related issues. The Children Water Camps were envisaged as a powerful method of ensuring that children, and by extension their households, are provided with accurate information that would allow them to understand and appreciate water, and to use and manage it wisely.
