Public Relations Statement
Northeastern College Alumni Association
September 12, 2026
The Northeastern College Alumni Association (NECAA) acknowledges recent incidents of student altercations at the start of the new school term which has understandably drawn disappointment from the public and heightened community concerns about school safety.
While disciplinary measures have been taken, including 7-day suspensions and mandatory attendance at the Sangre Grande Suspension Centre, our foremost priority remains the welfare of our students. We stand in solidarity with the principal, administration, staff and parents in reinforcing discipline, respect, and accountability within the school community.
We also commend the initiative of the TTPS Community Policing Unit and PC Felix Persad in guiding the boys through structured conflict resolution and youth development programs. These interventions are vital in redirecting youthful energy toward constructive outcomes.
The Alumni Association calls upon the wider Northeastern College family - past students, parents, and community stakeholders - to unite in reinforcing the values of discipline, respect, and pride that have defined our institution for 65 years. Together, we can ensure that these unfortunate incidents serve as turning points toward stronger character development and renewed school spirit.
