It is a 60-million-year-old gritty sandstone boulder located on the Cunapo Southern Main Road near Mount Harris, on the way to Biche. Local folklore claims the massive rock "grows" an inch each year, though geologists attribute this illusion to the surrounding clay soil eroding. Chaguaramas bunkers are remnants of the US Navy Base established during WWII (1940–1963) to protect Allied interests in the Caribbean, particularly oil supplies.

Following the 1940 "Destroyers for Bases" agreement, the U.S. transformed the peninsula into a major naval and air base.

Built by the U.S. Military to protect the Caribbean sea lanes and the largest oil refinery in the British Empire from German warships and U-boats

While some bunkers are forgotten or overgrown with vines , others remain accessible to hikers and tourists, serving as a silent testament to Trinidad's strategic role in World War II

Similar WWII-era underground bunkers were also constructed by the US military in other parts of the island, such as Green Hill in Cedros
