Hope Centre

Hope Centre A temporary home for children in Trinidad. An environment that promotes healing and encourages well-being and happiness

Hope Centre is a charitable non-profit organization for abused and abandoned children. From its inception to the present time, a temporary home has been provided for children between the ages of three and twelve. Our children come from several sources e.g. community police and social workers; temporary legal custody is sought through the courts. While the children are resident, their schooling con

tinued and their health needs are seen to; and most importantly we provide psychological assessment and counselling for them and their families and later prepare them for re-entry to their home situations, or entry into other institutions. Of great concern to us is the progress of the children after discharge. For those who have gone to new institutions, Hope Centre remains their “home away from home’ and for many of the children’s families it is their support centre. Our outreach program helps to finance the children as they acquire skills on the way to independence. While the Home is funded by a small government subvention and by monies raised through our ventures; it has survived – and continues to survive – because of the overwhelming generosity of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
