๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡น๐ŸŒบ Happy Indian Arrival Day from the Rotary Club of Princes Town ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡น

Today, we proudly commemorate 181 years since the arrival of the first Indian indentured labourers to Trinidad and Tobago โ€” honouring their courage, resilience, sacrifice, and enduring contributions to our nationโ€™s development and cultural heritage.

As we reflect on this important occasion, we celebrate the rich diversity, unity, and shared history that continue to shape our communities and strengthen our nation.

May we always remember the legacy of our ancestors and continue building a future grounded in respect, service, compassion, and togetherness.

On the weekend of Friday 22nd May- Sunday 24th May, 2026, the Rotary Club of Princes Townโ€™s Incoming Board of Directors hosted our first ever Board of Directors Strategic Planning Retreat.
The Retreat was geared towards the detailed planning, discussion and overview of the upcoming Rotary year 2026-2027.
Its primary focus was to allow each Director the opportunity to present their plans, calendar of events and preliminary budgets, while fostering unity and cohesiveness amongst the group through various team building activities.
The weekend was officially opened by President Elect Villon Stanley on Friday 22nd at 8:45 pm with a Mexican themed dinner night involving all the accoutrements to go along with a full Taco set-up, followed by hilarious games to enhance the group dynamics.
On Saturday morning, the team welcomed our guest of honour for the weekend, AG Dinna Bainey to the Presentation Day, to have breakfast and kick off the first presentation on Etiquette and Protocols in Rotary. This was followed by President Elect Villon Stanleyโ€™s presentation on his goals for the rotary year. Thereafter, each Director presented on their respective portfolios for the remainder of the day into the evening.
On Saturday, after business all day, the group headed for an evening of fine dining at a local Italian themed restaurant where the Italian chef prepared some of the Islandโ€™s best pasta and pizza dishes. * Chefโ€™s kiss * for that delectable memory. The night was of course followed by fellowship in true Rotary style, for the sole purpose of building Esprit de Corps.
On Sunday 24th, the incoming board members took a short trip to CPโ€™s Bird Sanctuary where they all learned about the different species of Hummingbirds, took part in a treasure hunt and finally an opportunity to feed the Hummingbirds. They then ventured to Fort Grandby where a Reflection of the Retreat was conducted and subsequently President Elect Villon officially closed the Retreat.
On exiting this Retreat, all directors expressed their appreciation and gratitude to PE Villon for commandeering this event and ensuring its successful ex*****on, as they all left more prepared and motivated to start the new rotary year.
