A 38-year-old Trinidad and Tobago national now living in Texas has launched a public fundraising appeal as she begins treatment for Stage 4 re**al cancer, a diagnosis that has upended her young family’s life and placed significant financial strain on her household.
Anandi Seepaulsingh, an Attorney-at-Law by training, migrated to the United States in 2022 in pursuit of better opportunities for her family. She is the mother of two young children — seven-year-old Zayn and one-year-old Anais, known as “Sunny” — and works as a Document Analyst at a technology company in Texas.
According to Seepaulsingh, the first warning signs emerged in April 2025, just months after the birth of her daughter, when she began noticing blood in her stool. Initially dismissed as postpartum-related haemorrhoids, the symptoms persisted for several months despite treatment. By September 2025, she began experiencing worsening pain in her lower abdomen, back and pelvic area, prompting further medical investigations.
A CT scan later revealed inflammation of the colon, and a colonoscopy performed in December 2025 uncovered a mass. Biopsies confirmed adenocarcinoma, a form of colore**al cancer. Further scans raised concerns about nodules in her lungs, and subsequent imaging and tests revealed that the tumour was located in the upper re**um, with involvement of lymph nodes and deposits beyond the colon wall.
A lung biopsy conducted in January 2026 confirmed that the cancer had metastasised to her lungs, officially categorising her illness as Stage 4 re**al cancer. Her medical team has since outlined a course of aggressive treatment, including chemotherapy, possible radiation and consideration of clinical trials. Her first chemotherapy infusion was scheduled for early February 2026.
Faced with mounting medical expenses, treatment costs, childcare needs and reduced income during periods away from work, Seepaulsingh’s friends and supporters have launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with the financial burden of long-term cancer care. The fundraiser is being coordinated by close friend DeAnn Vojvodich, alongside co-organisers, with contributions directed toward chemotherapy, medications, medical procedures and household expenses.
As of this week, the appeal has attracted dozens of donors and raised just over TT$4,000 toward a stated target of approximately TT$11,000.
In a statement shared publicly, Seepaulsingh said her primary focus is on healing and being present for her children, adding that the financial strain of cancer treatment has been overwhelming. “My goal is to be cancer-free and to live long enough to see my babies grow into adults,” she said, expressing gratitude for the support she has received.
