De Living Room is the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago’s youth sexual and reproductive health care facility, providing youth clinical services five days a week from 7am-3pm. One of the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago (FPATT)'s primary goals is to enhance young people's access to sexual and reproductive healthcare in Trinidad and Tobago. In 2001, FPATT fulfilled
a longstanding commitment to the country's young population by inaugurating the first and sole youth sexual and reproductive healthcare facility. The clinic's waiting area is designed akin to a typical Trinidadian living room, featuring couches, tables, and a television set, hence earning the clinic its distinctive name, 'De Living Room'. Clients waiting at the clinic have access to informational materials on sexual and reproductive health topics, encompassing contraception, puberty, adolescent sexuality, pap smears, HIV/AIDS, STIs, and cancer prevention. These services include contraceptive counselling and provision, reproductive health services such as pap smears, breast/pelvic examinations, pregnancy tests, and blood pressure tests, as well as VCT and STI testing. Moreover, counselling on personal and interpersonal issues is available. Staffed with trained nurses, a social worker, and a doctor available twice weekly, De Living Room is supported by a network of young people constituting the Youth Advocacy Movement (YAM). This group comprises enthusiastic volunteers dedicated to realising the organisation's vision.
