Our Butterfly Project financially empowers survivors of sexual and domestic violence with a monthly income in exchange for their jewellery and free training in product design, business development and conflict transformation. Each piece is handcrafted with love and care and transforms lives through art.

CONFLICT WOMEN ART IS NOW AT THE BRIX! 🩷

We are extremely excited to announce that art from our amazing survivors is now available for sale until the end of June at the Art Wall at the Brix Hotel 🩷✨️

One of the paintings featured on the Art Wall is Sea Scape painted by Afia Joseph. She writes “I am a strong willed and focused woman who found my purpose as a self taught artist born in Trinidad. I found my way to drawing and painting and to Conflict Women, which taught me alot, motivated and inspired me to work hard and keep reaching for the stars. So I have decided to follow my dream and pursue my painting professionally. Today, each brush, each stroke, and every texture is a result of my skill, strength and vision. I’ve shown up to learn, to grow and to honour the gift I’ve been given. It has been a difficult yet rewarding journey. I consider my story one of persevearance and dedication.” 🩷

We celebrated International Women’s Day this year by hosting our annual Butterfly Project workshop on the Healing Power of Nature for our amazing survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their children, who are considered secondary victims as they often witness violence and experience trauma.

It was a wonderful occasion, with our Founder, Brand Ambassador and volunteer team from Ernst & Young Trinidad & Tobago joining us for a nature walk and an afternoon hike, learning more about the birds, flora and fauna of our beautiful country.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and in an exercise on what International Women’s Day meant, survivors and their children expressed key themes on “celebrating myself, resilience, strength, balance, and not giving up.”

Thank you to our Conflict Women village for supporting our work: from our donors to our Global Advisory Board, our corporate partners, creative team, attorneys, mentors, facilitators and volunteer staff. We are eternally grateful and could not do this without your support.

In a recent interview with , our Founder and CEO, Asiya Mohammed, recently renewed calls for a Special Court to address Gender-Based Violence given the recent femicides. She expressed sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, calling for more effective implementation of existing laws and policies. The full article is available
