COPE is a grouping of autonomous, not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and community based organizations (CBOs) representing specialist interests in environmental concerns. OBJECTIVES:

a) To provide a forum for environmental NGOs and CBOs to identify environmental issues;

b) To improve communication and public awareness in the promotion, protection and conservation of Trinidad a

nd Tobago's rich biodiversity;

c) To develop public awareness of the significance of environmental protection and the role it plays in health and wellbeing; and

d) To make the citizens of Trinidad & Tobago aware of their ownership of the environment. COPE'S MEMBERS are :-

ACTIVITIES:

a) Represents COPE members at National, Regional and International Environmental Fora;

b) Represents COPE members on National Environmental Task Forces and committees;

c) Environmental awareness and education outreach programmes;

d) Comments on new and revised environmental legislation;

e) Participates in the development process by reviewing and commenting on Environmental Impact Assessments; and

f) Participates in regional and international environmental management and conservation activity with the Caribbean Community Centre for Climate Change,
Caribbean Conservation Association and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature

As the 2025/2026 Hunting Season progresses, hunters are reminded that only the game species listed in the Second Schedule of the Conservation of Wildlife Act, (COWA) Chapter 67:01 are permitted to be hunted.

Hunting of any species not listed under the Second Schedule remains strictly prohibited.

Additionally, hunters are advised that the hunting of lizards within the municipal boundaries of the City of Port of Spain is prohibited, in accordance with Legal Notice No. 280 of 2019 – Regulations (6)(1)(c) and (7)(1A).

The 2025/2026 Hunting Season continues until February 28th, 2026. The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries urges all hunters to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the COWA and to conduct their activities responsibly to ensure the sustainable management and protection of Trinidad and Tobago’s wildlife resources.
