Artificial intelligence has the potential to accelerate progress on sustainable development, but technology alone is not enough.

Real impact depends on the people, institutions, and systems that shape how AI is designed, governed, and used.

Building digital skills, strengthening public institutions, fostering trust and ensuring inclusive governance are essential to making AI work for everyone, not just a few.

As this latest collaboration between UNDP and the World Economic Forum explores, investing in the "human layer" is critical to unlocking AI's potential while ensuring it advances equity, resilience and sustainable development.
Because the future of AI isn't just about smarter technology. It's about empowering people to use it responsibly and inclusively.

From dialogue to action 🌿

In celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity, observed on May 22, UNDP Trinidad and Tobago highlights moments from the BES-Net Second Caribbean
Regional Trialogue, a space where policymakers, scientists, Indigenous peoples, local communities, and other stakeholders came together to exchange knowledge and strengthen collaboration for biodiversity and sustainable development in the Caribbean.

As biodiversity loss continues to impact ecosystems, livelihoods, and resilience across the region, conversations like these are critical to shaping inclusive, people-centered solutions for the future.

Together, we can build a more sustainable and resilient Caribbean, one grounded in partnership, knowledge sharing, and action for nature. 🌎

Day 1 of the Technical Knowledge Exchange between Cuba’s National Seismic Research Institute (CENAIS) and UWI Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC) officially kicked off in Trinidad and Tobago. 🌎🤝

Over the next two weeks, seismic experts and researchers from across the region will collaborate, share expertise, and strengthen technical capacity in seismic monitoring and disaster risk management.

The exchange, supported by UNDP and funded by the European Union in Trinidad and Tobago under the European Civil Protection and Hummanitarian Aids Operations (ECHO), highlights the importance of regional cooperation and knowledge-sharing in building resilience across the Caribbean. Participants will also engage in practical sessions focused on SeisComP, an open-source platform used globally for real-time seismic data monitoring and analysis.

Together, we continue working toward stronger preparedness, informed decision-making, and safer, more resilient communities across the region.
