Domestic violence does not always begin with physical abuse. Sometimes, the warning signs appear as jealousy, controlling behaviour, manipulation or isolation from family and friends.

Clinical psychologist Deborah Lee Rivière of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s Victim and Witness Support Unit joins ALTOS to discuss the warning signs of abusive relationships, why victims may find it difficult to leave, and the importance of having the right support systems in place.

She also explores the role religious communities can play in supporting victims and highlights resources available to those experiencing domestic violence.

The VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children from child sexual abuse Workshop continued this week as we took a trip to DEEP South Trinidad. Covering 10 Catholic Primary schools across Moruga, Princes Town and Rio Claro.

Together with the Catholic Education Board Catholic Education Board and the Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago Children’s Authority Of T&T we spoke to 80+ teachers and auxiliary staff about their role in the PROTECTION of our nation's children.

With interactive presentation, personal reflection, group discussions, participants learned the risks our children face and they were empowered with the steps they can take to protect our children from the sad reality of abuse.

We thank all our principals, teachers and all school staff who have made the commitment to protecting our children ❤️

💚 Building Inclusive Communities in Tobago!

On October 12 and 13, teachers at Scarborough RC School and Delaford RC School in Tobago, participated in disability inclusion training aimed at creating more welcoming and inclusive learning environments for children with disabilities.

👏🏽 All 10 teachers at Delaford RC attended, along with 20 of the 30 teachers at Scarborough RC!

We hope the lessons learned will inspire you to become the inclusive Church that the synodal Church calls us to be, where every child is welcomed, valued and given the opportunity to participate fully.

Together, let us continue building a Church where everyone belongs! 🤝

More to come on this!
