This is what we do!

AWA is proud to have adopted Odo Nnew Fie Kwan, “Love never loses its way home”, as a guiding principle of our work and mission. It’s on the signature of every email we send.

This beautiful Adinkra symbol reminds us that love is constant, resilient and always finds its way back. It calls us to lead with compassion, create spaces of belonging and strengthen connections within our communities wherever life’s journey may take us.

At AWA, we believe in the power of love to build, heal and bring us home…together.

Through our programmes, events and outreach, we remain committed to uplifting families and communities with purpose, culture and care.

🌍 World Environment Day 2026 🌍

This World Environment Day, the African Women's Association (AWA) joins the global call to protect our planet and create a more sustainable future for generations to come.

While governments, businesses, and the world's wealthiest individuals have a major responsibility in addressing climate change, each of us also has a role to play. Small actions, when multiplied across communities, can create meaningful change.

As AWA prepares to launch our upcoming Land and Agriculture Project, we are excited to empower individuals and communities to reconnect with the land, embrace sustainable practices, strengthen food security, and become stewards of the environment.

The images shared in this post, courtesy of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), highlight eight simple but impactful ways that we can all help protect our environment and reduce our climate footprint.

Every tree planted, every piece of waste reduced, every sustainable choice made, and every community garden cultivated brings us one step closer to a healthier planet.

Together, we can nurture the earth while empowering women, families, and communities.

Which of these eight actions are you already doing? Share your commitment in the comments and inspire others to join the movement.
