FIRST CENTURY, FIRST WIN FOR BICHE SPORTS

The first match for Biche Sports Club in the 2026 Seenath’s Auto/Biche Sports Foundation T20 Cricket League featured the first century of the tournament as the host club registered their first win.

It was the first of two matches being played on Good Friday at the Biche Recreation Ground with Biche Sports taking on Young Guns just after midday.

Young Guns decided to defer when they won the toss and had a dream start when Kareem Hamilton had Daniel Williams caught in the first over without a run being scored.

Biche stalwart Sidel Diaz (19) and Kendon Sutton (17) did some repair work before D Nandlal struck twice in the fourth over, removing both Diaz and Sutton with the total at 38 and 39 runs.

Navin Bedasie and Aaron Ali did more than repair the damage. They exploited deficiencies in the Young Guns bowling and fielding.

Bedasie struck seven fours and eight sixes on his way to 101 runs, which he scored in 49 deliveries. Ali did his part in support with getting 33 runs from 31 balls.

Their 120-run partnership that came from 72 balls set the table for the final score of 209 for eight. Nandlal was the best of the Young Guns’ bowlers, taking three for 39 from his four overs.

In chasing a huge total, cricket intellectuals may state expect run-outs to appear in the inning, particularly in the mid-to-late portion.

Biche Sports forced the issue to go against convention having both openers – Alfred and Calvin Williams – run out within the first six overs with 54 runs on the scoreboard.

As stout as the Biche bowling was, Keron Rampersad came in at #3 and attempted to mirror the Bedasie inning. He would face 39 balls, hit eight of them beyond the boundary and two others into the fence, on his way to 72 runs to lead the team.

Faith was on the side of the hosts, as Rampersad’s knock was ended by Bedasie, who had him bowled with the first ball of the 16th over to put the score at 145 for four.

At that point, Young Guns needed 65 runs from the final 30 balls, with six wickets in hand. Wesley Thomas had been lending support to the Rampersad effort up until the demise of his knock, but he could not successfully navigate Young Guns to the end.

The inning ended with Young Guns stranded at 180 for five and Thomas unbeaten on 34 runs, which he scored from 32 balls.

Bedasie, naturally, was named Auto Plex Used Parts Limited Man-of-the-Match for his impact on the 29-run result.
