We are pleased to introduce the Founder of our new Special Needs Division at Arlene's Early Learning Center:

"Hi, I’m Shantal Alexis. I hold a Bachelor of Education in Special Needs and Primary Education and am a registered teacher with the Ministry of Education of Trinidad and Tobago. I currently serve as a Special Education Teacher and the Founder of Alexis Inclusive Educational Academy, which operates under the Learning Support Division of The Elior Institute.

Being an autism mom to my seven-year-old son has been one of my greatest learning experiences. His journey has taught me the importance of patience, understanding, advocacy, and celebrating every small achievement.

His experiences inspired me to become an educator and establish Alexis Inclusive Educational Academy—a place where every child, regardless of their abilities or learning needs, can feel safe, supported, included, and celebrated.

I firmly believe that inclusive education builds stronger families, more compassionate classrooms, and a stronger community."

Is Your Little One Ready for Preschool?

Starting preschool is a big milestone, and a little preparation at home can make the transition smoother and more exciting. 🎒

Here are 3 simple ways to help your child get ready:

📖 1. Practice a Routine
Start building a consistent daily routine with regular wake-up, meal, play, and bedtime times. Keep morning steps simple and in the same order:
Breakfast → Brush → Dress → Play & Learn

👟 2. Encourage Independence
Give your little one opportunities to practise everyday skills like putting on shoes, washing hands, packing away toys, and getting dressed. Small steps build confidence!

🗣️ 3. Talk About Preschool Positively
Help your child feel excited by talking about preschool as a fun place to learn, play, explore, and make new friends! 🏫

🌙 And don't forget a calm bedtime routine:
Bath → Story → Bedtime
A consistent bedtime helps children get the rest they need for a happy, successful school day.

✨ Remember: Your child doesn't have to be completely independent before starting preschool. Our teachers are here to guide, encourage, and support every step of the way!
