About Penal Debe Community Organization

Penal Debe Community Organization is a reputable, registered non-profit organization, which has hosted several children’s events, flood drives, clothing drives, graduation drive and free sports academy (Titans Cricket Academy). Our organization has been interviewed by several main stream media networks as well as numerous social media pages have highlighted the work we have been doing to uplift our community.

CHILDREN’S TREATS; Christmas Treats (2013-2015) - games, prizes, goodies bags & Christmas presents for 300-500 children over the years held at the headquarters, Mohess Rd, Penal.

Easter Egg Hunt (2015) - held at the Grace Bible Missionary Church, with over 500 chocolate filled eggs. A total of 200-250 participants. Refreshments were also provided for all partakers.

Halloween Treat (2016)- For this event, local businesses set up tents, where each tent had their company’s name displayed and tables filled with a wide variety of snacks and drinks. children when from tent to tent with Halloween bags and buckets, some even in costume to collect their goodies. This event had approximately 350 children.

FLOOD DRIVE - In October 2017, many areas in South Trinidad were flooded. On the first day, we purchased 1,000 Doubles and delivered through flood to those whose house were flooded, later that day we provided 1,000 quarts of bread and tin items. In the following days, we distributed food hampers, water, cleaning supplies, small appliances and bedding. Our efforts were featured in the Trinidad Express.

CLOTHING DRIVE – Following the flooding, the organization started collecting new and used clothing, towels, bed sheets, etc. The Guardian Newspaper heard about the continued efforts to help those in need and featured our story, since then the org. received thousands of bags of clothing, towels, sheets, curtains, toys, shoes, books, uniforms, etc. Since November 2017 9 clothing drives were held, in Barrackpore, Debe, Mayaro, Penal and at out headquarters. People from near and far have attended our drives. Hundreds of food hampers were also distributed during the drives. Thousands attend this drive including Flood victims, fire victims, underprivileged persons and so many more individuals.

GRADUATION DRIVE – the graduation drive, was featured by The Guardian Newspaper in April 2018. The aim is to help graduates who cannot afford to purchase graduation gowns for their Prom to attend by receiving a free formal dress and makeovers. Over 500 formal dresses and a handful of suits were donated. Hundreds of students will now be attending their graduation with the help and not to mention the persons who contributed to this cause.

AWANA- sponsoring the AWANA Club for over 7 years providing weekly refreshments for 150-250 individuals.

TITANS CRICKET ACADEMY Our sport program is different. It is different because the businesses within our community have contributed toward this initiative to have expert training provided for our youths at no cost to them. Training would be conducted by Badree’s Academy of Sport Education (BASE) (International Player, Mr. Samuel Badree, Chairman of BASE) and would be coordinated by Keshava Ramphal. Our program has 100 kids enrolled for Cycle 1 (10 Sessions) held on Sundays (27th May – 29th July 2018) from 9 – 11 am at Mohess Road Recreation Ground.
