On Wednesday 6th May 2026, the Uphill Hope Foundation was truly honoured to welcome Athaliah Samuel Miss World TT 🇹🇹 2012 to our after school homework centre.

A proud daughter of Laventille, Ms. Samuel shared her personal journey with the children, speaking openly about the many challenges she faced while growing up in the community, challenges that are not very different from those many of them face today.

Her words were filled with hope, strength, and inspiration as she reminded the students that their circumstances do not define their future.
She encouraged them to remain resilient, work hard, stay focused on their goals, and never give up on their dreams, no matter how difficult the road may seem.

The visit was a powerful and heartfelt moment for our students, who were able to see living proof that greatness can rise from their very own community.

To acknowledge the effort of our students, we ended the term with a pizza party! Big thanks to the donors who sponsored this event. Because of your generosity, we were able to reward the children for showing up after school each day and doing their best. They deserved a Pardy!

Last week, the Uphill Hope Foundation’s Junior Leadership Board presented a session on study and exam tips to the pupils of the After-School Homework Centre. The presentation covered topics such as managing exam anxiety, staying disciplined and focused in class, and knowing how and when to ask for help. Pupils were quizzed through fun and interactive games like hangman and word searches, and won prizes for demonstrating their understanding. We thank our Junior Board for being role models to our students and for their continued service to our community. 💪

Soca star and national freestyle champion, Sekon Sta, recently paid a visit to the Uphill Hope Foundation’s afterschool tutoring centre. Our students were thrilled to hear his message about excelling in academics and in arts and culture. We learned that with hard work, career opportunities will be plentiful and you can become anything that you want to be!!
We thank you for your visit , congratulations on the successful carnival season 💪
