Wildlife Orphanage and Rehabilitation Centre (WORC)

Wildlife Orphanage and Rehabilitation Centre (WORC) W.O.R.C. is a non-profit company registered in 2001 under the Companies Act of Trinidad & Tobago that
(29)

functions like a hospital and recovery centre, treating only native wild birds, mammals and reptiles. No long term captive animals are kept, though we have had to do this in the past when no other facility was able to absorb one- winged, but otherwise healthy birds. There is a small hospital with 6 fixed cages, two (2) large outdoor weathering cages, and one smaller one, where birds or animals can regain flight ability and small mammals can forage naturally.

Our Story

In the absence of legislation we had been operating informally as a Rehabilitation Centre since 1995. With the need for greater apparent accountability in the search for funding, we Incorporated as a Non-Profit Company in 2001 under the Company’s Act of Trinidad and Tobago.

We have prepared Audited Accounts each year ever since.

We do not receive Government funding but are supported through the generous donations of private individuals and small companies.
