ο»ΏOn Friday 5th June 2026 we hosted our Care Day for the socially displaced persons in Couva. From seeing familiar faces whom we serve much in need of care to meeting new ones that deserved care, it was surely a reminder that they need us as they lack care, love & a sense of belonging that people do in fact care. One new person was moved to tears by being treated with simple kindness. One familiar face transformed in appearance when he made use of the grooming services. πŸ™πŸ©΅πŸ«  πŸ₯Ήβœ¨πŸŒˆ

Thank you Donald James of Professional Babering School & young Barber Andre who fell in nicely with our Team, Nurse Denesia Rawlins, Louis Figeroux, Sherise Hosein, Natasha and Tessa Sooklal for the hands on approach giving their time to serve in purpose. Thank you CTTRC for allowing us the use of the Inshan Ali Promeande all these years and TTPS Central Division for the consistent support. We acknowledge Outhar Ramkissoon for the touchbase as the Inspector who always ensured we were supported and further recognise the support of Snr. Supt. Bhagwandeen in charge of Central Division, Inspector Khan in Charge of Couva & Cpl. Wallace (who is not just Police Support but a serving member of the Police Service who has a keen eye for our safety & particularly embodies community spirit at its finest). We acknowledge PC Lalsaroop and PC Khan of the Couva Police Station for swinging by and asking how they can be of assistance. Thank u Fareza Hosein for sponsoring the breakfast meals & Denesia Rawlins for generously contributing to our lunch meals.

It was really nice to have Lyndon Lambert of the Savonetta Fire Station swing by and members of the β€œWhite Shift” from the Couva Fire Station swing by to show support by way of a kind donation and a spirit that complimented the aura of the day’s activities. We appreciate the efforts of FO Modeste for cordinating with our NPO on behalf of his Team. πŸ« πŸ©΅πŸ’―πŸ’š

We missed Dwayne, Riannah (thanking you Maria & Persad’s Family Medical Centre for the usual support) Visham, Arlene & Aveera not because they are extra hands to volunteeer but more because they are a part of the SDRC family. πŸ’šπŸ₯ΉπŸ˜”πŸ©΅πŸ˜

Well done guys - another success day serving those in need. πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ©΅πŸ« πŸ™πŸ’―πŸ’š

Prayer for Volunteers Serving Socially Displaced Persons on our Care Day today πŸ©΅πŸ™πŸ’š

Heavenly Father,

We gather today with grateful hearts, united in a spirit of service and compassion. We thank You for each volunteer who has answered the call to reach out to those who are struggling, forgotten, or without shelter.

As we go forth to serve socially displaced persons and those living on the streets, grant us wisdom, patience, and understanding. Help us to see the dignity, worth, and humanity in every person we encounter. May our words bring comfort, our actions bring hope, and our presence remind others that they are not alone.

Protect all who serve today and all whom we meet. Guide our hands to help, our ears to listen, and our hearts to love without judgment. Give strength to those facing hardship and open pathways to healing, safety, restoration, and new opportunities.

May this work be a reflection of Your mercy and compassion. Let kindness be shared, burdens be lightened, and hope be renewed. Bless our efforts today and allow them to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

We ask these blessings in Your Holy name.

Amen. πŸ™

πŸ’šβ€œMental Health is a way of life. We need to know it is ok not to be okβ€πŸ’š

As a society, we need to accept that many people around us are not okay, even when they smile, work, laugh, or remain silent. The term functional depression needs to be explored and expressed deeper and more frequently, so that it is widely understood and not just re-visited occasionally during an awareness month. πŸ™

Mental health is not a rare issue affecting only a few people β€” it is part of everyday life and touches families, workplaces, schools, friendships, and communities. Too often people suffer quietly because they are afraid of judgment, rejection, or being told to β€œbe strong” when it is ok not to be strong as you are entitled to work through your emotions at your pace. Being ok is not controlled by a light switch. It takes time. ⏰

We must create a culture where people feel safe to admit they are struggling without being labelled weak, dramatic, or attention-seeking. Gone should be the days where people say β€œget over it” or other cliches like β€œthis too shall pass” with such calm irrelevance it is almost irking. The very ones going through struggles parade about wearing badges of honour or speak self praise as if perfection is their domain when that is as a result of dysfunction. Let us be real for a minute. We (including myself) have all faced trials and sometimes speaking about it helps the next person to hold on. Life’s competition is really not against anyone else but against ourselves to improve and be better. I would never forget a member of the TTPS Executive who said to me getting through your trials, speaking about it, that’s your testimony; share it, save a life. I’ve no shame in saying I have been there and I am resilient. Be that person for someone. πŸ«‚

Sometimes the people carrying the heaviest burdens are the ones trying hardest to appear fine. A kind word, patience, understanding, or simply listening can make a difference in someone’s life. 🫠

It is okay not to be okay. What matters is that people feel supported, heard, and accepted while they heal. Mental health awareness should not only exist during campaigns or after tragedies β€” it should become part of how we treat one another every day with compassion, empathy, and humanity. Let this resonate and let us wake up tomorrow being more honest with ourselves which leaves room for healing and let us give more understanding to others who may need our strength. πŸ’―

Let us remember persons like this elderly citizen when we are disposing of food so recklessly. Our garbage may be someone else’s gold. πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

This displaced person opened the meal sponsored today and immediately started eating. Being human he never forgets to ask for his Coca Cola 🀣🀣🀣

πŸ’šπŸ©΅πŸ’šTwo Directors took to the streets this evening in continued purpose with meals sponsored by the Aunt, Grand Aunt, Grandmother and Father of our Director Sajina Kadir - Zalina, Mazina, Sherry and Majeed respectively as folks who continue to support the vulnerable persons who call the streets their home in Couva. πŸ’šπŸ©΅πŸ’š

Whilst just a small two member duo today, the job always gets done consistently partnered in purpose. Let’s pause to understand the need for socially displaced persons to be taken care of to give them the feeling of hope that people do care and a sense of self worth as we aim restore their dignity and reintegrate them in society.

The irony of it all. Let’s normalize sharing what extras we have versus disposing of it. Let’s know the value of caring & giving before that line goes flat. There is so much we can do together - β€œLet’s” being the key word. Food for thought. Blessed Friday everyone. πŸ™πŸ’š
