We recently wrapped up three school outreach sessions at the Charlotteville SDA, Charlotteville Methodist and Speyside Anglican Primary schools. These sessions focused on the importance of water conservation and wastewater management, helping students understand the challenges we face regarding future water availability.

By the end, the students had a better understanding of how their everyday actions can either help or contribute to the larger issues surrounding water scarcity and water pollution.

As always, we would like to extend our gratitude to the staff and students at each school for warmly welcoming us.

In September 2025, we successfully installed five additional mooring buoys within our existing mooring field in Man-o-War Bay, Charlotteville.

These new installations enhance safe anchorage options for visiting vessels while helping to protect Tobago’s fragile coral reef ecosystems and supporting local communities.

We extend our sincere thanks to Shell for their ongoing support in funding this successful marine conservation and community enhancing initiative.

We kicked off our school outreach for the new term by partnering with Castara Retreats to deliver an insightful and interactive presentation with the students of Castara Government Primary School. 📚

During the session, we explored the greenhouse effect and global warming through lively
discussions and a fun experiment that showed how heat can get trapped on Earth. The students also left with practical ideas on how they can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from turning off lights and minimizing their meat consumption, to practicing the three R’s and planting trees 🌳 💡

A big thank you to the staff for facilitating us and to the students who are always so eager and enthusiastic when we visit!

On Friday, October 3rd, 2025, we hosted a Laundry Detergent Making Workshop under our GEF CReW+ Project. This initiative focused on reducing the amount of laundry detergent-based phosphates, nitrates, and surfactants, which are common pollutants that enter our rivers and nearshore reefs through everyday washing activities.

During the session, participants were able to gain practical skills on creating an eco-friendly, cost-effective detergent using simple sustainable ingredients. Each participant also had the opportunity to customize and take home a batch of their own detergent as part of the learning experience.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our participants from the Charlotteville Police Youth Club, the Speyside Eco Marine Park Rangers, and the community members whose enthusiasm and participation made this workshop a success!
