Marcus Waldron is a young Trinbagonian theatre director and holder of a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of the West Indies. Earlier this year, Marcus applied to the MFA in Directing at the Yale School of Drama, at Yale University, arguably one of the world's leading universities, and top drama programmes. Although Marcus - the youngest and least experienced among the eight finalists from different parts of the world - was unsuccessful in securing one of the four places in the prestigious MFA programme, so impressed were the Yale faculty with his audition that they offered him a special research fellowship.
Valued at US$14,000.00, which covers tuition for one semester at the university, the fellowship is essentially Yale's contribution to grooming for a subsequent audition and placement a young theatre talent in whom they saw tremendous possibilities. Marcus however, is still in need of US$11,000.00 to cover additional expenses for the semester.
In this regard, he is hosting, with the help of his friends, a fundraising party called, ECHO (Everyone Can Help One) on June 11th at 26 Coblentz Ave Cascade - 7 houses down from the Carlton Savannah. The event starts at 9pm and tickets cost $200.00 for singles, and $300.00 for couples. You are invited to purchase tickets for Marcus' fundraising effort, or to make a generous contribution in support of his study goals, a truly worthwhile endeavour. To do so you may contact Marcus at [email protected] or 316-1369.
Your contribution would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.
